Today, my boyfriend and I went shooting. While I was showing him how to properly hold and adjust a rifle, he accidentally pulled the trigger. The gun kicked back and hit me in the face, breaking my nose. FML

Fall
Dead leaves, the first cold of the season and an umbrella flipped inside out: fall, the season of grace.
Same thing different taste
Today, my boyfriend accidentally broke my nose the day he was meeting my parents for the first time. FML
Today, my boyfriend was telling me about accidentally punching his best friend in the face. As he was acting it out he ended up punching me and giving me a bloody nose. FML
Old banger
Today, I went shooting with my dad and he brought his grandfather's rifle with him. I’ve never shot it before and he told me to be careful with it. The bullet exploded, ruptured the barrel, cut my face, and made me deaf in one ear. Dad still blamed me for “not shooting it properly.” FML
Today, my boyfriend decided it would be fun to sit on my lap. In the process he landed on me so hard that he made me hit my head. Then when he turned around his elbow smacked into my nose causing it to break. FML
Ballshot
Today, I shot my boyfriend in the balls by mistake, twice. First it was a paintball gun I was using with my nephew, then it was a slingshot I use to scare away the bird who keeps eating fish from my pond. He is now sat icing his groin acting like I did it on purpose. FML
Today, while walking downstairs to go to work, I turned the corner and my boyfriend pulled a gun on me. Apparently, he forgot I was there. FML
Romance isn't dead
Today, I was fooling around with my boyfriend in his room. He grabbed me behind the head to pull me in for a hard, romantic kiss. He accidentally smashed my nose into his cheekbone, and my nose started gushing blood and continued to bleed for over 2 hours. It's broken, and he just laughed. FML
Today, me and my girlfriend went paintballing. I made sure we were on the same team, so I could protect her and be manly. The first time she got shot was by me, I shot her finger. It broke. FML
Boom, headshot
Today, my fiancé and I were discussing whether we should have a gun in the house or not. He argued that I’m too clumsy to have one. Offended, I turned around to storm off. I hit my forehead on the cabinet I'd left open and immediately started gushing blood. Point proved. FML
Score!
Today, my boyfriend was buying a new hockey stick; to test it out he started hitting a ball around the aisle and decided to shoot it back into its bin. Instead the ball hit me dead in the mouth, giving me a fat lip. Instead of consoling me, my boyfriend yelled "GOAL!" FML

First of all, why the **** were you letting him shoot a rifle with substantial recoil? Someone who's new to shooting and wants to try a rifle should use a .22LR, NOT a ******* semi-auto high-powered gun. I'm assuming that you used semi-auto, since most U.S. states don't allow fully-automatic firearms, and you only noted one discharge when your boyfriend pulled the trigger. Many ranges don't want you and the 'shooter' handling the gun together because shit like this happens more than you think. The exchange of the gun is supposed to be carried out ON THE BENCH, not from hand-to-hand. That means don't help him hold the gun unless you've got the safety on. If you can't properly instruct someone to hold a gun, have an expert do it. Most ranges have them.

a good "teacher" would have had the SAFETY on... especially when someone who is unfamilliar with a firearm is learning. YDI... hopefully OP won't make that mistake again...

Same thing happened to me when I was showing my exgirlfriend how to aim and squeeze the trigger. Fortunately it was an iron sight .22. I showed her with the rifle unloaded first but she didn't listen. I'm guessing your city boy boyfriend didn't either?

nope...he insisted that he knew what he was doing and i went to fix his form and he pulled.. somehow he moved the safety, he knew how to do that well. he lived in inner city austin (people from texas are usually stubborn)

if you know anything at all about guns, you know that gun safety is KEY! There would be no "accident" if your finger wasn't on the trigger while demonstrating.

at least it wasn't the bullet that hit your face

I want to know what kind of rifle the op was shooting and how badly he was holding the gun that it would break the op's nose.

ydi. the first thing you should have taught him was the gun safety and trigger control.
