Today, I went to a restaurant with my boyfriend. After dessert, he went to the bathroom so I quickly called the waiter over and paid the bill, thinking it was a nice gesture. When he returned, he broke up with me for "emasculating" him. FML

Today, my boyfriend took me out to a fancy dinner. Halfway through, he said he wanted to break up. I started crying, but the whole restaurant thought he'd proposed, and started clapping. FML
Today, my boyfriend asked me out to dinner, which we never do. While at the restaurant he gets down on his knees, looks me in the eyes, and pulls out a little box. He opens it and inside is a note that says 'We're Done.' He then leaves me at the restaurant with the bill and the $2.00 box. FML
Today, I went on a date with a guy who seemed to be quite the gentleman. I was proven wrong when he told me to "shut it" during dinner, stiffed me on the bill, and then left me at the restaurant so he could get his own taxi home. FML
Today, my boyfriend took me to dinner. As we waited for our food he took my hand and said, "I think we should break up." When I got outside, my tire was flat. FML
Today, I treated my boyfriend to an expensive dinner using the last of my paycheck. I had to excuse myself to the bathroom a few minutes in. I came back to find my plate empty. His excuse was, "I didn't want the food to get cold." FML
Today, after dating a guy for 2 months, things seemed to be going well. I offered to buy dinner and trusted he would keep in mind that I'm a college student on a budget. He picked the restaurant, ran up the bill over $100, made me pay, and dumped me right after. FML
Today, my girlfriend and I were out to dinner. She had to use the bathroom, so she went, but the food came while she was in there. She came out, yelling at me for ordering the food to come that exact time, then she broke up with me. FML
Today, my fiance's divorce was finalized and we went out to dinner to celebrate. I stepped away to use the bathroom, then came back to a note on the table saying, "I'm going to enjoy single life, thanks!" He left me with the bill. FML
Today, I went on a dinner date with the guy I like. He ate all his food then started eating off my plate, going on to eat over half of my food. When the bill came, he made me pay for it. FML
Today, I went on a date at a restaurant with a guy. When he promised I wouldn't have to pay the bill, I didn't think he meant we'd be dining and dashing. FML

I'm a WOMAN, and I don't even like it when people do this. While I'm always thankful if someone wants to buy my food, I always feel a little suspicious of people who wait until I'm in the bathroom, then pay my bill. It always feels like someone is either being smug or wants something to hold over me. (It's not paranoia, I have an in-law that does this.) I don't know why it's different to have someone offer to pay the bill verses grabbing the bill and paying while I'm in the bathroom, but it certainly feels like it. I don't think this is a guy thing at all.

I'm the same way, but it's pure paranoia. I'm always suspicious that they didn't tip properly, or they're trying to insinuate that I would have problems paying my share if they didn't.

When my boyfriend and I first started going out he paid for everything. I feel weird having people pay for me so I brought up him paying once, then me next, and then we split it and so forth. He said yeah that was fine. He doesn't mind if I pay, but if it's our anniversary or my birthday he always pays and his birthday I pay. Yes, sometimes I would just like to be treated like a lady and have him pay for everything but you have to compromise.

Depends if he was treating you to a nice night out he might think its no longer been a nice treat. If I was in his shoes I'd just insist on giving you my half of the check if its already been paid for.
