Today, I saw a cute guy at the coffee shop reading a book. Wanting to be friendly, I smiled as I approached and asked what he was reading. He returned the smile and said, "Minding your damn business, by Fuck Off." FML

Halloween
A failed costume, stolen candy and a very real scare: Halloween, the one night when fear is allowed.
Same thing different taste
Today, I was in the middle of enjoying a really good book while in a waiting room. Someone saw what I was reading and thought it would be cool if she leaned over and told me everything that happens. FML
Covert
Today, I tried to take a subtle picture of a cute guy reading at a café. My phone flash went off. He looked up, made direct eye contact, and said, “You could’ve just asked.” I packed up my stuff and left immediately. FML
Today, I was reading a book in public. Some bastard stranger came over and started spoiling the plot for me. FML
Well, this is awkward
Today, I was having lunch at a cafe. There was an attractive guy looking at me from another table. I smiled back and gave a little wink. A minute later he approached me. I introduced myself and asked if he wanted my number. He said, "Um, no but what are you eating? It looks really good" FML
Creepy
Today, I went to grab a coffee at a new café in town. While sipping my coffee, I noticed a man staring at me through the window. I thought he was browsing the menu before I looked up mid-sip to him staring at me in the eye, sucking on his finger. FML
The good old days
Today, I was reading a newspaper at a bus stop when a creepy guy rested his chin on my shoulder and said, "I miss the good old days, when people would read newspapers together and it wasn't classed as weird." He then walked off. FML
Masterful gambit
Today, a cute guy asked me out for coffee. I like him but didn't want it to be easy, so I said, "Coffee dates are for broke bums, aim a little higher." He said, "Aight I will, peace out" and walked off. FML
Today, I went on a date with a cute guy I met at a bookstore. He stood up and said he was leaving when I said that I didn't like 50 Shades of Grey, because he, "doesn't want to be near a bitch who doesn't know her place". He then told me to give him a ride home. FML
We got a reader!
Today, my new boyfriend came over to my apartment for the first time. Up until now I thought he was great, but when he spotted the book I'm currently reading next to my couch, he uttered the immortal question, "Why do you read?" FML
The self help books are over there
Today, a guy in the library came up to me and said, "You look very unproductive. Just watching you makes me depressed." FML

Shit, I have to admit that while you did get blindsided and I have sympathy for you, the dude was a ******* savage

Woah. Like fair enough if he'd told you what he was reading then said, "It's so good and I'm really enjoying it though, so is it ok if I get back to it?" But no need to be so harsh

I definitely think he was far too rude. But honestly, I really hate when people interrupt me reading, especially when they're strangers. Yes, I'm in public but trust me, if I'm reading in public it means two things: I have no choice but to be in public right now, and I have absolutely zero desire to interact with anyone else. So I'm not going to say YDI because dude was a total asshat, but maybe next time consider whether or not a person might even WANT to talk to you.

While he was inexcusably rude, people who read books in public generally don't want to be approached.

I would have responded 'Oh I've heard of that one but I wouldn't read it myself, only **** Boys would be caught dead reading that. Have a good one!'

Retort doesn't work so well considering in this situation OP was being the fuckboy. The dude was just being a bit of a bitch.

I understand that he may have been annoyed, but if he doesn't have the decency to at least not be a bag of dicks about it, he's not worth your time. If he wants to act like an "edgy" 12 year old, he can go shitpost on 4chan or something.

That was so uncalled for.

Calm down everyone. If someone approaches you while you're engrossed in something else, it's understandable to feel a little annoyed, but politely saying 'sorry, I'm busy' takes less than 10 seconds. I love reading- it really isn't difficult to just politely decline someone and then go back to your book. There's no need to be rude. If you think what the guy said was justified then you clearly have a complete lack of understanding of how to interact with people in a normal way.

How to never get laid again, by That Guy. He should really be more interested in girls who like books, since those are few and far between.

Pretty sure lots of girls like books. As many girls as guys.

Wow, you think that just cause he clearly doesn't want to talk to op, means he's mean to everyone he meets?
