Today, I saw a cute guy at the coffee shop reading a book. Wanting to be friendly, I smiled as I approached and asked what he was reading. He returned the smile and said, "Minding your damn business, by Fuck Off." FML

Fall
Dead leaves, the first cold of the season and an umbrella flipped inside out: fall, the season of grace.
Same thing different taste
Today, I was in the middle of enjoying a really good book while in a waiting room. Someone saw what I was reading and thought it would be cool if she leaned over and told me everything that happens. FML
Covert
Today, I tried to take a subtle picture of a cute guy reading at a café. My phone flash went off. He looked up, made direct eye contact, and said, “You could’ve just asked.” I packed up my stuff and left immediately. FML
Today, I was reading a book in public. Some bastard stranger came over and started spoiling the plot for me. FML
Well, this is awkward
Today, I was having lunch at a cafe. There was an attractive guy looking at me from another table. I smiled back and gave a little wink. A minute later he approached me. I introduced myself and asked if he wanted my number. He said, "Um, no but what are you eating? It looks really good" FML
Creepy
Today, I went to grab a coffee at a new café in town. While sipping my coffee, I noticed a man staring at me through the window. I thought he was browsing the menu before I looked up mid-sip to him staring at me in the eye, sucking on his finger. FML
The good old days
Today, I was reading a newspaper at a bus stop when a creepy guy rested his chin on my shoulder and said, "I miss the good old days, when people would read newspapers together and it wasn't classed as weird." He then walked off. FML
Masterful gambit
Today, a cute guy asked me out for coffee. I like him but didn't want it to be easy, so I said, "Coffee dates are for broke bums, aim a little higher." He said, "Aight I will, peace out" and walked off. FML
Today, I went on a date with a cute guy I met at a bookstore. He stood up and said he was leaving when I said that I didn't like 50 Shades of Grey, because he, "doesn't want to be near a bitch who doesn't know her place". He then told me to give him a ride home. FML
We got a reader!
Today, my new boyfriend came over to my apartment for the first time. Up until now I thought he was great, but when he spotted the book I'm currently reading next to my couch, he uttered the immortal question, "Why do you read?" FML
The self help books are over there
Today, a guy in the library came up to me and said, "You look very unproductive. Just watching you makes me depressed." FML

Oh okay. Wow. Not that this excuses his rude behaviour, but perhaps you caught him on a really bad day? Don't let this put you off being nice to others and taking chances! what you did was sweet, and honestly, not everybody will be so terrible.

Sorry, but I think you deserve it. I kind of wish I had thought about that back in the day. Men used to interupt my reading or concentration by telling me to smile - daily. Every time I went to the mall I would see the flash of a camera as I walked by. Yes, there are times that I welcomed interaction but not constantly. Wait until he takes a break and the book dips or when he's in a bar. If he wanted to meet you, he would have made eye contact with you. It's kind of ironic. I'm on my 50's. If I'm ever interrupted, I don't notice now. Perhaps it's because it's not happening every 5 minutes. Now people say that I am so nice (and smart and funny.) I'm the same person that I was but before I wasn't giving them what they wanted so I was a b----. Now that they don't immediately see me as a conquest, they can see me as a person and decide if I'm a person that they really want to know. It's really quite a relief.

I'm about as big of an introvert as you can find, and I have social anxiety, but God forbid someone try to be nice to me or make small talk. Absolutely no reason to chew them out, unless you're a massive piece of crap.

I wish I didn't give a shit enough to say this to people when they ask that.

Who says something like that? There are so many polite and mature ways he could have hinted that he didn't want to be bothered. That guy sounds nuts.

To be fair, if someone has their nose buried in a book they probably don't want to be disturbed.

Plot twist: He actually was reading "Minding your Damn Business", and the author's name is actually Pho Kopf, child of a Korean model and a German actor. Both of whom were tired of being asked for autographs.

he was unnessacaraly rude, but to be fair to him if I was sitting reading a book I would be annoyed if someone came over to flirt with me too.

I'm sorry OP for what happened to you but I have to admit I can't wait to try it on someone!

"I thought you were cute, but apparently not, with an attitude like that." What a nasty response. Sorry OP. . . But at least you were quick to find out what piss baby he was before stroking his ego. Better to find a cute person without a shit personality.
