Today, I realized that although I'm dating the most loveable, caring and genuine man, the fact that he's a crack addict means I'll never be his drug of choice when he needs a hit. FML

Fall
Dead leaves, the first cold of the season and an umbrella flipped inside out: fall, the season of grace.
Same thing different taste
Today, my boyfriend told me love is like a drug. I started tearing up because this is the most romantic he has been in a while. He then went on to break up with me, telling me that my "prescription is up". FML
Betrayal #4474
Today, I discovered that all the times my boyfriend says he's in the bathroom with horrible diarrhea, he's actually sitting there smoking crack and talking to other women. I've dedicated everything in my life to him. I feel so brokenhearted and defeated. FML
Charity
Today, I found out that the dude I love has been taking the money I used to support him and buying heroin with it. FML
Today, my boyfriend told me, with complete confidence, that he's selected "drug dealer" as his career of choice. FML
A dealer of both drugs and hugs
Today, I found out that the reason why the guy I took home from the bar seemed to understand everything about me instantly was because he was my ex's secret drug dealer. FML
I'm not worthy
Today, my boyfriend of three years who I helped through drug rehab and find employment in my office left me for someone else. His explanation was that now that his "head is not clouded with chemicals" and he "makes decent money", he wants to settle down with someone worthy of him. FML
Today, I realized I willingly support my boyfriend's alcoholism, because the only time he says "I love you" is when he's blind drunk. FML
High times
Today, after dating for almost a year, I decided to introduce my parents to the man I was sure I'd fallen in love with. When dad saw him, his and my boyfriend's face completely dropped. I asked them what was wrong because I could feel the discomfort. Turns out, I'm dating my dad's drug dealer. FML
Been there, done that
Today, I came to the unhappy realization that I’m living such a cliche. I’m completely in love with a totally unavailable man. He’s funny, smart, and drop dead gorgeous. There’s no way I could ever tell him how I truly feel. He’s gay and I’m a woman. We’ll never be more than friends. FML
The ick
Today, I realized my best friend has it bad for me. This man has treated me better than the guys I’ve dated. He goes above and beyond for me, and makes me feel safe, valued, and respected. He’s everything I’ve ever wanted in a guy, except he’s butt-ugly as fuck. I feel so bad that I can’t return his feelings. FML

Surely the fact he takes crack is concern enough?

OP, shouldn't you be more worried that he's a crack addict?

Get out! Don't let it fool you! It's just an act... Before you know it he will be stealing your stuff to support his crack addiction.... I know cause I have been there but I didn't realize mine was using until it was too late.... You better believe I locked his tail in jail! Nothing will get him better, no amount of help... If your smart you will take heed to this warning and move in with your life without him.....

So you're saying instead of trying to help him she should just leave while he continues ruining his life and possibly dying because of it?

I disagree that "nothing will get him better, no amount of help" and I bet you the many other recovered drug addicts would too. I agree that many don't want help or that they're addiction is too strong and may never get better, but there also many who recover from addiction and end up leading normal healthy lives. To say that he just won't get better and that no amount of help will help him is a little mean and not necessarily true.

It is true that a lot of people with addictions can end up stealing from loved ones and even changing personalities. It is very hard and people who have loved ones with an addiction know it is a real struggle - I really admire these people who go through so much. We shouldn't judge them for what they do or don't do - if they find they need to kick the person out of the house or let them stay with them. It is hard whatever you do. You can love someone but realise to help them you need to tough love, or you can love them but not be able to handle their behaviour caused by the addiction (as you absolutely need to look after yourself), or you can stay with them - there is not necessarily a right or wrong way to do this.

Kind genuine, lovable crack addict... Your full of s*#t... I've seen any drug addicts... Those are not words that I would use to describe them.

Firstly, as an ex-addict I can tell you to end the relationship. You will never come first until he is no longer an addict. Getting clean and staying clean takes years. Any feelings you have for this man will be destroyed by the outcomes of addiction. You are far better placed being a supportive friend.
