Today, I found out that you can ruin a $500 computer with a few stray drops of 100% acetone nail polish remover on the keyboard. FML

Thanksgiving
Questions about your love life, a burnt turkey and the cousin who knows everything: Thanksgiving, a contact sport.
Same thing different taste
Today, while I was trying to take off my eye make up, I accidentally used nail polish remover. FML
Today, I managed to accidentally drop an entire cake on my laptop's keyboard. There's so much frosting stuck under the keys, I have no idea how I'm going to clean it out. FML
Fireworks
Today, I learned that nail polish remover is, in fact, VERY flammable. And I learnt it the hard way. FML
Today, I spilled some milk on my laptop. I was pretty sure it would be fine as it was only a bit of milk. While cleaning the residue, I knocked a whole bucket of water into the insides of the laptop. RIP Macbook. FML
Expensive noodles, dude
Today, I ruined a $1,500 laptop with a 69¢ bowl of ramen noodles. FML
Today, I decided to be healthy and drink a tall glass of water whilst doing my assignment that is due in three days. I managed to spill the entire glass over my laptop. I flipped it over and used a hairdryer to dry it off. While doing that, I managed to melt my keyboard. FML
Today, I was putting red nail polish on my nails and put a newspaper on the table to make sure that it didn't spill. I later discovered the nail polish made the newspaper stick to the table. I scrubbed nail polish remover on it, thinking it would help but instead bleached the table. FML
Today, I got angry at my computer, and instead of bashing my keyboard with my fists, I bashed my face on the keyboard. It REALLY hurt. FML
Today, I saw a spot on my computer screen. I tried to use my finger to rub it off. Then, I tried using my nail. Then I tried to windex it off. I continued scratching at it with my nail. A half hour and one scratched screen later, I realized the spot was part of the webpage I was looking at. FML
Today, I ruined my computer screen trying to kill a fly. FML

As someone who works in a lab, I can say with certainty your nail polish remover was not 100% acetone. It may have had acetone in it, but 100% would split your fingernails

No, they sell and use 100% acetone as nail polish remover. I have some myself. It's mostly for removing acrylic nails and gel polish, though. Not recommended for removing ordinary nail polish.

YDI. You dripped liquid on a computer, what did you expect to happen. Assuming this is a laptop, a keyboard costs about $30 and should be user replacible unless you got it on the mobo. If thats the case, you're screwed. If it's a desktop, just go buy a new keyboard dummy.

I was ready to sympathize with you. nail polish remover is a good thing to clean that gray crap off from between your keys. and then I read your username. you're using a computer as a drip pan while you paint your nails? YDI. take better care of your stuff.

the acetone must have fallen through the keyboard and into the internal components, possibly frying the CPU or RAM chips.

sounds like an ID:10:T issue to me. How do you ruin the whole thing by getting drops on only the keyboard, unless maybe it was a laptop? Either way sucks to be you for doing your nails over your computer. Duh.

This is why you never paint your nails on your laptop ever.

Humm, general rule, don't eat or drink (or apparently use nail polish remover) around an expensive electronic device.
