Today, I found out that whenever I send my son to his room, he goes on his iPod and buys the most expensive apps he can find. So far I've been charged $600. FML

Fall
Dead leaves, the first cold of the season and an umbrella flipped inside out: fall, the season of grace.
Same thing different taste
Today, I found out my dad bought an iPhone. I've spent the better part of the last six months teaching him how to check his email and online newspapers. FML
Today, I found my son's iPod touch and was looking at a light-saber app. He walked into the living room to see me fighting the cat and making sound effects to myself. FML
Today, I got the cell phone bill for my family and saw that my son had gone over his limit by around 1,000 messages. Curious to see what he was talking about that much, I read the messages. Apparently, my 15 year old son is having it off more than me and my wife. FML
Smart move
Today, my six year-old son maxed my credit card on Robux. FML
Hustlers
Today, I found out that my 14-year-old son spent hundreds of dollars on what appears to be a misogynist multi-level marketing hustlers' website. How did he pay for this horseshit, and how did I found out? My PayPal account sent me emails, telling me that several purchases had been made, but too late for me stop them. FML
Today, I told my son if he wanted the new internet password he had to clean his room. I then caught him disconnecting my laptop from the internet. Turns out he changed the password months ago and now if I want the new password he wants £50. I ended up paying. I'm actually proud of the sneaky sod. FML
Today, I was out shopping with my son and unbeknownst to me, he had secretly added a bunch of expensive games he wanted to the trolley. I was too embarrassed at the till to make a fuss as there was a huge line behind me. I watched as my normal £50 shopping bill climbed to over £400. FML
Family matters
Today, in response to the guy whose son told him to fuck off for disturbing his one day off a week, my son spent literally his entire savings account for a deposit on a shitbox one bedroom house because he’s sick of his dad finding him things to do every ten minutes, and I don’t even blame him. FML
Today, I found out that my mom has linked my iPhone with her iPad and has been secretly reading my texts. FML
Today, my son got an email saying he could win an iPad if he just entered his credit card number. He asked for mine, telling me that it was so he could buy some school supplies online, so I gave it to him. The internet just conned a credit card number out of a 17-year-old nitwit. And me. FML

Well take his ipod and don't give him any money till the 600$ are paid off. Can parents not raise their children anymore, that's just sad.

I really hope the iPod is currently sitting in your bedroom under lock and key and anything else that can go online is also taken away

OP is an idiot. Take the damn iPod, take his computer, his cell phone, and hold them ALL till the $600 is paid back. The kid wants to disrespect me like a spoiled brat? I'd take away all the shit I'd gotten him and then say "are you feeling lucky now, kid?"

so what valuable parenting lesson has been learned by you today OP? answer: your kid DOES NOT need your credit card information. in fact, your kid does not need a real credit card until he/she can pay the bill.

I agree with number 10. Your credit card shouldn't be linked to your son at all. Also, you need to take away his iPod.

sell all his stuff until $1000 is made up. $1000 because he has to learn about interest sometime. The $400 you make, spend on doctor bills from destroying that spoiled bastard

Here's a thought, take the damn thing away. It's not actually vital to his survival, and he clearly doesn't deserve it. He has no respect for you or the things you provide, so stop spoiling him and only provide him with the bare minimum he needs to survive. I'm so tired of everyone bitching about how kids are today, and yet no one actually takes any steps to change anything. Wake up people, it is the parent's fault, DO something already.

Now, its normal for a kid to act up when its being punished. Usually by crying, screaming, and throwing its toys around. But when a kid spends $600 as a payback for being sent to its room. That is too much. That is so far over the line, its almost unbelieveable. So, the proper thing to do is to punish the child. But, you also need to explain to him why hes being punished. If he doesnt understand the value of money, or the severe consequences that his actions may have caused, then he needs new boundaries. So for starters, you need to take the iPod off him for a while. When you give it back to him, make sure that the account is password protected, and with not credit card info on there. So he cant repeat this situation. As stated in some of the other comments, youu may be able to get a refund for those app purchases, in which case, good :) Now, you never mentioned how old the child was, so to make them pay for it, could be next to impossible. However, you can make them do other things to help out. I mean, that $600 could have been for rent, or food shopping, or a bank payment. But, the kid can be made to clean up after dinners, or mow the lawns. There needs to be some kind of effort to contribute back for the money spent. So, in short: No iPod for a while. Say a month. When they get it back, NO CREDIT CARD INFO Repayment, whether in chores or actual money. No pocket money for a while, or a very very small amount. Kids these days.....
