Today, at my minimum wage job, we received a half-way decomposed dog found in a lake. It was my job to tear open the bag and try to identify the breed and color. It would've been easier if the body wasn't crawling with maggots. FML

Halloween
A failed costume, stolen candy and a very real scare: Halloween, the one night when fear is allowed.
Same thing different taste
Today, my dog vomited a writhing mass of maggots. It was the most disgusting thing I've ever smelled, and I was baffled as to where she found a maggot infested dead thing to eat. Baffled, until my mom reminded me that my cat has been missing, presumed dead, for over a week. FML
It was yummy
Today, I found maggots in the ketchup on my sausage. Too bad I had already eaten half of it. FML
Today, after 8 years in exceptionally difficult veterinarian classes which put me $200,000 in debt, and 7 months of job searching, I finally got a job. I will be inspecting feces for worms while making minimum wage. FML
Traumatic
Today, I started my community service at the dog pound. I like animals so I thought it would be a good place to do it. As I arrived they were throwing dogs that had been euthanized into a dump truck to be taken to a landfill. That was my job for the day. FML
Roadkill
Today, I saw maggots dropping from beneath my car. I looked under, to see a rotting paw dangling from my engine. That would explain the smell. FML
Today, while making less than minimum wage at McDonalds, I had to dispose of a grown man's soiled underwear that he left on the bathroom floor under a pile of toilet paper. It isn't even the grossest thing I've seen in my six months of employment. FML
Today, after three weeks of holding out, my stingy boss finally called animal control about the birds in the air vent above the register. While I was working, they rummaged through the vents, causing live maggots to fall down right in front of me. FML
Today, it was my first day as an animal control officer. My first dispatch was to collect a dog that had been hit by a car. I had to clean up my dead dog on my first day of a job that barely pays rent. FML
Today, I took mine and my sister's dog for a walk in the park near my house. The dog managed to find a large piece of rotting, frozen meat buried in the snow and tried to eat it. I had to pry it from his mouth and can't get the smell out of my gloves and coat. FML
Today, I had to hunt down and collect a stray dog's feces for my parasitology class. FML

What kind of job is this??
BlueBaronBitch 22
The job could be cleaning parks/recreational areas, not sure why you need to identify the dog though

Probably Forensic Pathology, deals with autopsies and classifying dead people/animals. Kinda like a doctor of the dead.

I doubt that would be minimum wage though...

Maybe it's an entry level position. Or a paid internship.

Some rubbish departments of councils freeze and catalogue dead animals for a period after they're found so owners can find them and bury them etc

For minimum wage?

I think op may work at an animal shelter/pound, the kind where strays are taken to. It's not uncommon at my local kill shelter for dogs to be brought in DOA to be identified and then cremated.

Probably to see if it matches the description of any dogs reported missing in the area.

Because when people lose their dogs they usually like to have some closure so they can stop searching and grieve

I suppose that if it was in a bag someone did it on purpose, so they might think they can track somebody responsible for it. I think.

I figured it was put in a bag by whoever recovered the dog and sent it to the OP's work place. I wouldn't just send a dead dog covered in maggots without some sort of packaging.

51 you would be surprised how many people try to get rid of pets by putting them in a bad and dumping them there, it's very sad and painful for the animal but somehow some humans possess the cruelty to do it :(

*bag, sorry about that

At least it wasn't your dog

Animal services, maybe? To help identify lost or abused animals
BlueBaronBitch 22
Animal services would probably pay nicely though for having to deal with so many animals, maybe not but that's what I'm thinking
pandainspandex 19
Definitely not. Especially if it's a government animal control facility. Either way, animal rescue workers get paid shit, if at all.

...where the hell do you work that that's even REMOTELY implied in your job description?
