Today, a cute girl I know in passing approached me very nervously and blushing like mad. She gave me a note with a number on it, said to call her, then ran away. When I called the number later, it was one of those rejection hotlines. What the hell? FML

Fall
Dead leaves, the first cold of the season and an umbrella flipped inside out: fall, the season of grace.
Same thing different taste
Today, I met a really cute guy at work. He asked for my number, and I wrote it down on a piece of paper. After looking at the paper, he crumpled it up, yelled "Do you think I'm stupid? I know the rejection hotline when I see it", and walked away. It was my real phone number. FML
Today, a girl I've liked for several years gave me her number. Finally, I worked up the courage to call her. It was a suicide help line. FML
Today, the phone rang so I went to answer it. No one was there. A minute later the phone rang again and no one answered so I assumed it was a telemarketer or a prank so I started swearing uncontrollably in rage. Turns out it was my crush calling to ask me out, but she was too nervous to ask. FML
Denied
Today, I asked a girl for her number and I wrote it down when she gave it to me. When I called her, it wasn't her. She'd given me a restaurant's phone number. FML
Hard pass
Today, I finally worked up the courage to write a girl a note, with my number on it, and the words: "You're stunning. Get in touch sometime." Heart pounding, I saw her, got up, and passed her the note. Then I passed out at her feet. FML
Hitting it off
Today, my friend and I went to a bar for drinks. I noticed this cute girl and went over to say "Hi." I had a great conversation with her and I asked for her number before she left. She passed it to me on a piece of paper with instructions specifying for my friend to call her and not me. FML
Today, a girl I've been crushing on for over a year finally gave me her number. I lost the note at home, but found it a few hours later. I excitedly called, only to find she'd written down the number for the local Pizza Hut. FML
Jot that down
Today, I wrote my phone number on a Post-it note and gave it to a cute girl at work. She immediately threw it away. In front of me. FML
Today, a very pretty girl came up to me and asked me for my phone number. Very pleased, I give it to her with a huge smile and tell her that I can be reached at any time. I then watch her go back to her group of friends. My number was for her gay friend, who then meekly waved at me. FML
You IDIOT
Today, I was approached by the head cheerleader, and she asked for my number. I was so excited that I gave it to her without question. Then she smiled, and walked away. Too bad my girlfriend was right behind me when it happened. FML

Next time you see her, put her on the spot & tell her you lost her number & then ask her for it. First, she'll be bummed her "trick" didn't work & second, she'll feel bad when you don't call her. Turn about is fair play.

Curious as to what OP's interaction with her has been thus far that made the girl feel the need to do this. If OP has been creepy, maybe she's being proactive. But if OP truly just knows her "in passing" this is a total dick move on the girl's part.

Probably a prank, sorry OP

I agree, I can see this as some sick dare or she lost a bet with friends.

or she was so nervous she put a rejection hotline thinking he wouldn't even call, as for me back in elementary school i nervously gave a girl a note i had writted in code and she couldnt understand it no surprise

Maybe her handwriting is so bad that OP dialed a 7 instead of a 1. My home number is visually close to my local Home Depot. I get at least one call a month for them. I'm thinking about starting a call service and charging them. :)

I agree. Sounds like a dare or lost bet. There is the small chance that op read the number wrong, but the fact that it went to a rejection number sounds too coincidental. Sorry you got played for no reason op.

A preemtive rejection. She's on the ball.

No, either way anyone who does this is a bitch. Just tell them you don't like them. Girls expect guys to have the courage to ask so girls should have the courage to respond. Equality.
yerawizardlizzy 27
And if a girl says she's not interested she can still be labeled a bitch. Yeah, equality.
amourmourant 18
If she does it that way, yeah. It's a lot different than just a normal rejection (which would have been totally fine.)This was unnecessarily mean. Just because you don't like someone doesn't mean you have to be a dick about it. Presuming OP wasn't being a creep at the beginning, that was completely rude of her to do. And very fake. She acted coy, shy and flirty. Wouldn't you be pissed if someone did that to you? If they were closer friends it would have been a funny joke though.

Either she is a wicked woman, or it was a dare.

And I know when that hotline bling. That can only mean one thing...

rejection

That's seriously odd behavior. I mean, sure, I could see her giving you that number if you approached her, but to approach you and to act shy while doing it? Seriously strange.

She's either a perfect troll, or she's just really weird
