The truth
Today, I finally told my dad that I hate his girlfriend. I said her daughter's a complete whore, and her son is annoying as fuck. Turns out they were in the house and within earshot, ready to throw me a birthday party. FML

Halloween
A failed costume, stolen candy and a very real scare: Halloween, the one night when fear is allowed.
Today, my dad's new wife, who is two years younger than me (I'm 24) and hates that I'm a lesbian, threw a fit when I told her that I would never call her Mom. My dad took her side. I don't live with them but still… FML
Today, it's my birthday. My dad showed up to my birthday dinner wasted, was loud and obnoxious the whole time, sexually harassed our waitress, then invited my annoying, bratty nephews to come home and spend the night with us. They're sleeping in my room. Happy birthday to me. FML
Today, my brother mentioned my dad's birthday party. I said, "What party?" He said, "Shit, forgot I wasn't supposed to tell you." My own father doesn't want me at his party. FML
Today, I called my mom to let her know I was coming home for my upcoming birthday, as I haven’t seen my parents in months. She then stated she hated my birthday because it reminded her she was getting older, and they may have preexisting plans that evening anyways. Really feeling the family love… FML
Today, my dad and I got into an argument, and he ended up calling me a son of a bitch. My mom heard and started arguing with him over him calling her a bitch. Three hours later, I'm now staying at my gran's house with my mom and hoping her threats of a divorce weren't for real. FML
Today, my scumbag son slapped his girlfriend in front of her family, and her dad picked him up and threw him off a second floor balcony. Good for her dad, he deserved it, but now he's laid up at my place and I have to wipe his ass and listen to him whine. FML
Today, I found out why my dad doesn't want my girlfriend coming to our house anymore. Apparently, her dad used to bully him a lot during high school and he's never gotten over it. He's threatened to disown me if she comes back over here. FML
Today, it's my birthday. After a day out partying, I came home to find all my stuff smashed in the yard, even my 42" plasma TV. After asking my girlfriend what her problem was, she said a "slut" left a message on the machine stating how fun last night was. It turned out to be my mom. FML
Today, it's my 15th birthday. My dad stumbled into my bedroom at six in the morning, completely drunk, and slurred the "Happy Birthday" song. Then he told me to go fuck myself, and said that he wished I was never born. Me too, dad. Me too. FML
Today, my mom thought it would be a good idea to bring my obnoxious ex to my birthday party. FML

I feel like most of the people with these YDI opinions have never been through parents divorcing and then had a parent date someone that sucks. Could he have maybe gone about it better? Yeah, doesn't mean he shouldn't have told him how he feels. Also... OP is likely young enough to still be living at home making opinions about everyone valid to be shared. If you hate possible new step brothers and sisters that's a big deal. And a birthday party doesn't necessarily mean anything... It's likely dad's idea and everyone is there because they are obliged to. Not because they want to. Then again, the OP could also be 17 and lashing out because daddy is trying to replace mommy as well. But we'll never know that.

I remember when my dad almost married a woman who I went to Sunday school with...and she proceeded to try to lay down the law like she was our mother. She was capable if being cool but definitely a bitch 90% of the time.

I completely agree that OP should tell his dad how he feels, however I think he should have gone about it a different way. He should have asked to speak to him when he had some time and then state how he didn't like the girlfriend or the kids in a polite way and let him know why. He has to be considerate of his dad's feelings as well. Calling them names will only make the dad defensive and probably won't change anything.

Again... We have to assume the OP is young enough to live at home or none of this would matter all that much. So we'll say 18 or younger for the sake of argument. College students aren't (generally) home enough or at all for it to matter that much and if he's graduated high school, lives at home, and isn't going to college... He can choose to leave. That being said, teenagers have been clinically proven poor decision making skills and are, relative to someone 25+ extremely emotional. Not saying that makes his approach acceptable but you have to accept things as what they are to a degree. Or maybe soon to be mom v2.0 did something to piss him off and it was the first time he saw his dad since it happened. As almost always with an FML, we only get a small portion of the story that makes it difficult to ascertain what the circumstances surrounding it are... So I stand by my original statement, he could've gone about it better, but at his (likely) age range it's to be expected, and he was 100% in the right bringing his concerns to his dad about all parties involved.

It's quite sad that this didn't get many thumbs up. I admire your ability to step back and see several angles. I agree. Cheers!

Nobody's saying he shouldn't tell his dad how he feels. But he didn't need to be so insulting; it makes it sound like he's just whining and name-calling rather than expressing legitimate concerns.

Your word choice was rude as ****, you know. "*****" and "annoying as ****"? Really? You can tell your dad you don't like 'em, but you shouldn't spit hatred, he obviously likes and maybe loves her.
