Today, my dad texted me, "I love u." I replied, "I love you too dad... are you drunk?" He answers back, "Of course I am..." My dad only tells me he loves me when he's drunk. FML

Today, I got a text message. It said, "I'm so drunk. What you up to, girl?" It was my dad. FML
Today, I was texting my boyfriend about yesterday, where he told me how much he loved me, and he wishes we lived closer. I asked him if he really meant it. Turns out he was drunk, and had no idea what he was talking about. FML
Today, I sent my boyfriend of three and a half years a text message spilling my heart out, saying I'll love him forever, and how much I appreciate him in my life, that I want to be the mother of his children, etc. His text back to me? "Are you drunk?!?" FML
Today, my dad came home drunk and called me hot. FML
Today, I came home to find my dad drinking. Trying to be cheerful, I greeted him with a "Hi, dad!" He sighed, shook his head, and said "It hurts me when you call me that." FML
Today, my dad seemed moody, so to lift his spirits, I told him I loved him. He just snorted, "You gay or something, boy?" Really mature, dad, really mature. FML
Today, my dad has been hitting the bottle, and will only respond to anything I say in a slurred rap. FML
Today, my dad got so drunk that he proposed to me. FML
Today, I told my Dad I was an alcoholic and had decided to seek help. His reply, "Don't stop drinking, you are the life of the party, funny and beautiful when you drink." FML
Today, I received a text from my dad, which was borderline-incomprehensible due to an insane amount of text language. I replied, jokingly asked if he had a stroke while writing it. A few seconds after hitting send, I remembered the stroke he suffered last month. FML

I understand why you're upset, but I think a father's love for their son/daughter is implied moreso than a mother's. I don't think you should take it to heart. I don't recall my father ever telling me he loved me. Deep down though, I know he does, just because of all the sacrifices he has made for me over the years.

That's not a bad thing, hun. You do know the effect of alcohol on the brain and how it acts on the part that controls shyness. That's why when people are drunk, they usually spill out how they really feel or things they couldn't have said. As they say, a drunk man's words are a sober man's thoughts. He just finds difficulty saying it to you when in everday life. I'm not saying it's a good thing, but atleast you know he loves you and that just because he can't say it to you when he isn't drunk, doesn't mean he doesn't love you, and it surely doesn't mean he's talking crap either just because he's drunk. As #76 said, you shouldn't knock him down like that. He's you pop, and we know how dads aren't all gushy, and "i love you" blabla. So be nice to him next time... :)
