Halloween
A failed costume, stolen candy and a very real scare: Halloween, the one night when fear is allowed.
Today, my spineless shitwhip of a boss made me go fire a notoriously abusive employee. I had to act like firing him was my decision, even though I'm the secretary. Now I get to live in constant fear that the guy was serious when he threatened to find out where I live and kill me. FML
Today, my boss is still refusing to fire my psychotic coworker, who's made it his mission to insult, annoy, bully and threaten me every day into making me quit. My boss is convinced the guy just has "assburger's" and that the company would get sued if we fired him. FML
Today, my boss was watching taser pranks online, when he said he was going to "get me". We often take turns playing pranks on each other, and I was the last to prank him. Now I'm terrified to move or turn my back on anything other than a wall at work. FML
Today, I found out my boss likes to shit talk about me when I'm not around. The best part is that I don't know what I've done to piss him off. FML
Today, my boss grabbed my arm, raised it above my head, closed my other hand into a fist, and pushed it into his armpit. After staring at me for several seconds, he winked and left without saying a word. This isn't the weirdest thing he's done, and I'm actually starting to fear for my safety. FML
Today, my boss fired me. I still can't really explain where the slap I gave him for it came from, though. FML
Today, I knew my coworker was stealing my lunch, so I made a sandwich with tons of incredibly spicy peppers. He took a bite, shrieked in pain, and ran off sobbing. Unfortunately, he was also in an emergency meeting with an important client, so now my whole department looks like a bunch of morons. FML
Today, I got mugged. But luckily I had on my keyring the pepper spray that my husband had insisted I keep with me. Unlucky for me, my husband's co-worker, who borrowed my keys, emptied my pepper by spraying it on a brick wall one day when he was bored. FML
Today, I nearly lost a hand at work, because a supervisor decided to remove a 'useless' safety guard on a machine despite my warnings. He doesn't understand why I'm so upset with him. FML
Today, like every day for the past six months, I have to go to work and walk on eggshells so the newest employee doesn't feel like I'm being passive-aggressive. I need a new job. FML

Sounds like a problem with your boss, not you. Make sure any threatening behavior is reported to the proper people. Your safety is your number one priority.

Why have you not gotten the police involved? Or the higher ups?

talk to him about it and settle things?

If OP has to carry pepper spray I don't think the Boss is the kind of person who will sit down for a heart to heart with OP about why the they hate OP. The Boss sounds more like a person with the "attack first, ask questions later" mentality.

Something tells me that HR should get involved. After all, you do have your coworkers to back you. :)

I'm sorry OP. If your boss hates you enough that you're worried about assault, is there any way you could talk to HR, if you have one?

Op, I think it is time to look for a new job.

I would ask to talk to him to settle your differences, or if you are too uncomfortable to do so, contact HR. Nobody should feel uncomfortable in the workplace OP. Stay strong.

I would take it to HR first before talking to the boss. Document everything, and then have HR deal with the boss. Also, report any retaliation that the boss sends your way (don't forget to document anything that looks like retaliation).

Do you really feel like you're in danger? Please find a new job as soon as you can if it's that bad. Better safe than sorry!

He might resent you because he envies you, sees similarities of himself he doesn't like, or you're a pain in his butt. Smart to carry pepper spray! ignore him, we can't please everyone!

Well, it seems that OP is carrying pepper spray in the event that the boss is tempted to commit a salt for some inexplicable reason; it's not something that can simply be ignored. [walks away slowly and quietly]

*assault Oh wait...we're you making a salt and pepper joke?
TheNewGuy03 29
This why it's hard to joke on the internet

is there someone above him you can talk to about the situation?
