Today, my daughter spoke her first words. Her dad had been practicing with her for weeks in secret. She crawled to me and said, "I poop." FML
Today, we've been dating for over three months, but I went over my girlfriend's house for the first time. As we walked through the door, I was greeted by a little girl whose first words to me were, "Are you my daddy?" FML
Today, as I was taking my three year-old daughter home from daycare, she asked where her daddy was. I tried to tell her that I was her father, but she answered, "No, not you! My other daddy!" I've got some talking to do tonight. FML
Today, my 6-month-old daughter decided she'd scream every time I'd answer her cries instead of her daddy. He just left for a 12-hour shift at work. Only 11 more hours to go. FML
Today, a little girl at work was coloring a picture that said "Best Dad" on it. Wanting to be nice I asked her if she was making it for her dad for father's day. She looked at me with a sad face and said, "I don't have a dad..." FML
Today, it was my daughter's birthday. I didn't know I had a daughter. FML
Today, I have been teaching my 5 year-old step-daughter how to read and write. She came bounding up to me with a piece of paper and said, "look what I did". It was a letter that said "My dad misses my real mommy, not you". FML
Today, my four-year-old daughter called me by her mom's new boyfriend's name. Three different times. FML
Today, my eldest daughter announced she was getting divorced. She never even told me she was married. FML
Today, my two year old daughter did not want to leave the toy store, when I picked her up she started screaming at the top of her lungs, "YOU'RE NOT MY DADDY!". FML

Most children will say Da-Da first. It isn't necessarily associated with Daddy. Sorry about the sperm donor, though.

I think what 21 meant was that the terms mommy and daddy were put into use because children naturally utter mama and dada when learning how to speak, so the op should'nt take offense that daddy was said first.

You probably don't realize it, but I bet when you're doing small things with your daughter you're saying "I wish your daddy was here to see this" "I bet your daddy would love it when you smile if he were here" "I wonder what your daddy is doing these days" Small things like that can make a very big impact on your little one. My money is on that.
