Today, I offered my seat to an elderly lady on the subway. She quietly refused. Minutes later on a sharp turn, she almost fell down on two people. As I was clearly the youngest in the disability seating section, everyone on the train turned and glared at me. FML

I don't think you deserved this. I mean, she didn't want to sit down and you did offer up your seat. The other people around could have offered up their seat too.

That sucks, being glared at because someone else refused to accept your help. FYL

OP could have just said something like "Are you sure you don't want my seat?" That would surely stop the glares?

Shouldn't disability seats be vacated only to the disabled at all times?

You should've told them all to go to hell. You offered her the seat and she said no. It's not like you told her she had to stand or anything.

Ungrateful _____. You should've shouted out "What?! I offered her a seat and she refused, not my problem" I would've. & #5. as far as i knew the 'disabled' area on buses and trains is also for the elderly.

unfortunately that is the ****** up society we have to deal with

"sharp turn" on a subway? Anyway, she knows you offered and was being kind. That's all that matters.
