ahh this happened to me once! i was sitting on a packed tram near the door when a older lady with crutches came on. i offered her my seat but she refused then the tram came to a really sudden stop and she crashed into two other people... she still refused the seat afterwards ;~;

Yeah this has happened to me as well, they didn't fall but they stumbled a little and it frightened them. I don't get why they refuse the seats, I think its a pride thing, they're afraid to admit they're old and are gunna have trouble standing on a bus one day. I would feel bad if I saw someone fall, but really they should just swallow their pride and accept the damn seat !

I guess they expected you to insist on her taking your seat. Fck them, she refused.

YDI. Offering isn't enough. Assuming you're able-bodied, you don't offer your seat to the elderly, you get up so they can take the seat. If you look at what just happened, it's clear that the seat wasn't a want to her, it was a need.

#39 If she knew it was a need, why didn't she take it? She must know she's old and fragile, she should've known the risk she took by not taking that seat. Offering is the first thing you do, if she declined, what? Would you have liked him to say, "No. Take this seat." and try and sit her down? -.-

If I offer and they don't say yes, I just stand up anyway. Usually they just don't wanna take your seat away, but if you're gonna stand anyway, they'll sit down.
