Today, one of my ears randomly went deaf. I went to the doctor, thinking I had an ear infection or something. Turns out that your ears can go deaf entirely without reason, and I now have medication to take to see if I can get any of my hearing back in that ear. I'm only 26. FML

Hey, there's a great Deaf community here. You're not alone, and you'll love it here. :)

Get a second opinion!! Doctors are people too and are just as fallible as you or I. Find the top rated ENT in your area and go see them.

my uncle had that happen to him too. happened over night it felt lie and he's only in his mid 40's

Ohh holy shit, nothing here to joke about. OP, GL in your medication

No more deaths metal concerts then I suppose..?

I had the same thing happen to me about 8 years ago, so I can sympathise. I hope you get your hearing back properly, but if you don't, I hope you adapt quickly. Good luck!

Kind of scary how there are so many people commenting here who know someone who had the same thing happening to them.

Hey screw you I was born deaf in one ear. It doesn't ruin your life or make your life not able to function. You're never too young to not have your hearing

That extremely unfortunate for you... best wishes on you getting your hearing back!

Don't worry and hope for the best :) Same thing happened to me last week, at 26 as well. It came back within the 6 days of the treatment. I'm guessing you take cortisone as well so be sure not to eat too much salt (and sugar), it doesn't go well with it. Also, if it wasn't planned, ask for an MRI and cardiac checkups. They usually don't find anything, but it is a precaution (at least in my country), as it could come from there. Good luck! :)
