You could have simply asked the person next to you, or the driver, "Hey, doesn't that look like a person? Maybe we should go help them!" Or better yet, call 911, calmly state you think someone's in trouble, give the operator the location, and continue on your day. P.S: Garbage can look body-shaped at times, but honestly, who lies in gutters anymore when there are such things as alleys and bars?
