Today, I swerved to avoid hitting a dog that ran in front of my car. The dog was fine but I hit a road sign, ripped off my rearview mirror, and cracked my passenger side window. When I got out to examine the damage to my car, the dog growled at me. FML

You're a good person. At least it's summer. It would suck to have a cracked window in winter.

Sue the owners for the damages; dogs need to be kept on a leash.

thats why god gave us eyes, engineers gave us brakes, and the law put up speed limit signs. YDI for not knowing how to drive

heh the dog esp if a larger one could actually cause damage as well if you hit (though I do sincerely doubt as much as you did to be hoenst); and sometimes you don't have the time to break depending on your car and current speed. The swerving actually probably scared the dog as well so he growled. Well if its any condolence you did quite the good deed.

If there was a dog just wandering around off leash, it was probably a pedestrian area so if he swerved and did that much damage to the car, he was probably speeding anyway.

Dont swerve, just the breaks!!

Rule of thumb: don't swerve for anything smaller than a deer. Brakes yes, swerve no.

Agreed~ If you hit it shame for dog.. But if you swerve and hit another car thats human lives you putting at risk. You can go to jail for killing human, not killing a dog..

hahahaha lmao YDI for not hitting the damn dog
