Make your minds up

Today, I was offered a job that pays far more than I expected, being a high school senior. My parents decided they aren't letting me take the job, saying I should enjoy my childhood. They're also not paying for my college, which is why I was looking for work in the first place. FML

sit down with your parents and tell them why its important for you to either get a job, or have them pay for your college. its your education, and it is truly important

Why would any parent STOP their kids from getting jobs? They should be proud of you for thinking ahead and wanting to be responsible. Especially when most kids just want to party and spend their parents money.

Tell your parents to go **** themselves and take the job unless they wanna pay for your college

I believe that the parents think jobs are only college and above. Stupid yes

Either your parents are complete idiots and you should stand up to them and take the job, or there is more to the story than you're telling.

Get the job and move out if you do they can't control you

what? it sounds like they WANT you to have financial problems

Ignore them and take the job. You're not young enough to be 'enjoying your childhood' anymore, and speaking from experience, enjoying adolescence/college is a lot easier if you're not constantly worrying about if you can afford to do whatever it is you want to do.

Easy solution its a bit mean say **** it and get the job

Honey, you sound like a very reasonable kid. And i think its absolutely fabulous that your trying to support yourself in regards to your college tuition fee. You really should talk to your parents again. If this is a good paying job, you shouldn't let this opportunity pass by!

I've been where you are. I listened to my parents and didn't take a job in high school and that made it incredibly difficult to get a job while I was in college. People want work experience anymore, even more than a college degree. Talk to your parents, and if need be go behind their back. If you've got this great opportunity you'll really be hurting yourself in the long run if you don't take it.

Tell them they either need to pony up the cash for college or let you take the job if they still refuse to let you work and won't pay take the job and get a secret bank so they won't know
