Today, my parents called me to ask if I could drop my dog off to them on Sunday. They're having a Superbowl party and want to show her off to their guests. My dog is invited, but I'm not. FML
Collection
Fall
Dead leaves, the first cold of the season and an umbrella flipped inside out: fall, the season of grace.
Same thing different taste
Second class citizen
Today, my family went on vacation. I had to stay home to take care of everyone's animals. I called my mom, who said she was too busy to talk to me. When my sister asked her who was on the phone, she replied, "The dog sitter." FML
Not the smartest
Today, I was watching a movie on TV. One of the characters has the same name as my dog, and when his name was called, my dog got so excited that he jumped face-first into my TV. FML
Today, my sister went into early labor. Instead of telling me, my mom turned to my dog and said, "Guess what? You're going to be an uncle!" Our dog ranks higher than me in our family's metaphorical food chain. FML
Bad boy
Today, I invited my boss for supper as we get on pretty well. Everything was going well, until my German Shepherd bit him. FML
The ending of Lost explained
Today, I lost my dog. I looked around my neighborhood for hours, and found him under my bed asleep when I got home. FML
Confused?
Today, while at my job as a hostess, I was seating a couple and their adorable little girl. I tried to ask how old she was, but what came out was, "Aww, what breed is she?" FML
Instant cure
Today, I had been sick all day, so to cheer me up my dad drove me to get ice cream. On our way back, we hit a puppy. FML
Party Hard!
Today, it's New Year's Eve. My husband and I weren't invited to any parties, and we don't have a sitter to be able to go out by ourselves. Instead, I'm watching "Beverly Hills Chihuahua 2" on the Disney channel with our 5-year-old, and my husband has passed out on the couch from sheer boredom. FML
The left hand, the right hand
Today, I was out walking my dog. I was throwing a stick in the lake so he could go get it (he loves swimming). A friend called me. After I was done calling, another friend came by, and we talked for a while. When my dog barked, I accidentally threw my iPhone into the water instead of his stick. FML
Pleased to meet you
Today, my parents met my boyfriend's parents for the first time… while they were bailing us out of jail. FML

Your own parents not inviting you? That's messed up.

My first thought about this situation that the parents want to hold their own private puppy bowl. I would still not allow the dog to go to their place without your supervision, OP.

"Sorry - no one shows off my dog but me."

Show her off? Is there something special about her (rare breed, Westminster dog show champion, etc.) or are they just overly doting 'grandparents'? Have there been other signs they favor her? Perhaps taping over OP's high school graduation with the pup's first birthday party or replacing his baby pictures with her puppy pictures.

To be fair, if you dog is more popular to your parents than you, then what does that say about you?

That's where you say "Where my dog goes I go. We're a package deal." If they won't agree to that then your dog doesn't go.

Now I really want to know what kind of dog you have. Is it some kind of interesting breed and/or is your dog just awesome? I know what it's like to have a dog everyone is interested in. He's a Standard Xoloitzcuintli and people fall in love with him everywhere we go. He's an incredible dog, both in looks and personality. My youngest brother made me promise that, if we ever make it back to our hometown where they still live, I have to bring him in for show and tell. If I charged $5 for a photo, I'd have made hundreds of dollars by now. He's a stellar example of the breed, but I think people would be intrigued even if he wasn't. It's not every day you see a 60 lb hairless dog.

Bring a keg. Then you will be able to stay! ??

Consider it a blessing in disguise when your parents guest list includes a dog and not you. Sounds like a bad or REALLY weird party.
