Today, my dad killed my pet rats. They were playing on the sofa, and he thought they were vermin. This would have been understandable if the reason he came over wasn't to meet them, and they hadn't been wearing bright pink walking harnesses. FML

A failed costume, stolen candy and a very real scare: Halloween, the one night when fear is allowed.
Today, I went to my boyfriend's house to meet his parents, and now they have a dead rabbit because I sat on it. FML
Today, my cat came through my window, holding a dead rat in her mouth and dropped it in my pile of clothes. I then asked my dad if he could get the dead rat out of my room. After looking for an hour, he couldn't find it. Guess the rat wasn't dead after all. FML
Today, I found out my dad ate my pet rabbit two years ago. He said he ran away. FML
Today I opened the door for my cat and he brought in a rat with him. Now the rat is hiding in my house. FML
Today, while I was pet-sitting for my boyfriend's parents, one of their dogs killed one of their kittens. FML
Today, I walked in on my parents discussing how to kill our cat, and how to make it look like an accident. FML
Today, I was at my boyfriend's house, meeting his family for the first time. We were all standing in the kitchen when suddenly a small white and brown mouse ran by. Out of natural instinct, I stomped on it. Turns out, it was his little sister's pet mouse that had gotten out of its cage earlier. FML
Today, I walked in on my dad introducing his stuffed gorilla to his cat. FML
Today, my pet rat had babies. We've only ever owned one rat. FML
Today, I came home to find a mouse in the garage. Frantic, I killed it. My 7-year-old son came home from soccer, and started crying because he couldn't find the class pet, Mr. Whiskers. I killed my son's class pet. FML

Those rats were obviously pets because of their harnesses. I have never seen a sewer rat or any other kind wearing a harness. Very rude of your dad.

Honestly I'd sue or demand payment for wrongful death ( if that term can be applied to pets) You could probably file charges, they were technically your property, he had no right to kill them. Get some sort of compensation for your loss. Sorry OP I'd beat the living daylights out of anyone who hurts my animals.

Rats for crying out loud... There's a reason why they're universally known as vermin. See one, kill it and set traps for the fifty others that are hiding nearby is the rule.

Yeah, WILD rats are vermin. Domesticated pet rats are a completely different species that have been tamed and kept as pets since the 1800s. They're amazing pets.

People saying rats are vermin have obviously never kept pet rats which are actually bred to be clean and have a good temperament. I haven;t even had them and I know this we studied rat behaviour in pet rats they;re extremely friendly and docile

Even though i reaaaally dont understand why you dress your rats im really sorry your dad was being such an ass. Rats are intelligent and cute :)
