Today, my boyfriend of over a year looked at me and said, "Sometimes I just want to hit you." FML

Halloween
A failed costume, stolen candy and a very real scare: Halloween, the one night when fear is allowed.
Same thing different taste

Today, after asking my boyfriend multiple times to be more kind and romantic, he looked at me lovingly and said, "You know, you look pretty sometimes." FML
Today, my boyfriend asked me to beat him up so he could look tough around his friends. When I just stared at him, he added, "Please don't break anything though. Nothing too serious." FML
Today, I told my boyfriend I loved him. His response? "Is that why you have been so clingy and annoying lately?" FML
Today, my boyfriend told me he loved me. I asked why, and he said, "Because sometimes you look good, and you buy me stuff." FML
Today, I told my boyfriend that I love him. He replied by telling me to fuck off. FML
Today, after my boyfriend ignored me for hours playing video games, he gave me some attention for a little bit. When I tried to run my fingers through his hair, I missed and punched him in the face. FML
Today, I told my boyfriend I loved him. He responded by fist pumping. FML
Today, while in the grocery store my boyfriend said very loudly "Don't make me hit you in public again!" He says things like this every time we are in the grocery store line. The sad part is that it's better than when he says "Are you gonna pay for the stuff you put in your purse?" FML
Run for the hills
Today, my boyfriend and I got into a fight. We yelled for 20 minutes and then he put his hands on my neck. Once we'd calmed down, he explained he wanted to strangle me like Homer does Bart, but didn't follow through. This all started when I asked if he read a text I sent earlier in the day. FML
Today, while my boyfriend and I were watching TV, I asked him if he loved me. He turned up the volume. FML

You must be from up north. Down here in the South, he would have hit you already.

My girlfriend tells me that all of the time for no reason, seriously.

I'm sure it's for no reason.

136: Provided his girlfriend isn't joking, why do you assume he has to earn her anger? Women can be just as manipulative and abusive as men.

I've said that to my bf more than once, I've never hit him, but I've wanted to lol not that big of a deal

I'm sure he was kidding cause I say that to my gf all the time and she knows I'm just kidding with her, she says the same to me as well, it's all just a bit of fun.

just because you feel like hitting someone doesn't mean you will act upon it...there are plenty of times I've wished a woman was a dude so I could but I never would

I hope he was just joking and meant he just gets frustrated with you sometimes if he really meant he wants to hit you he's a jackass and you need to leave him you can do better than him :)

PS I like how some of the girls calling him abusive seem likethey type that would be total bitches to their exs and are acting like the "helpless victim" when all the guy may have done was "grab my arm". the ****? If you don't know what REAL abuse is like, don't talk shit. Naive people like that piss me off.

132: Sometimes guys do get shafted by overdramatization, buy you can't really make that call for the commenters here. What's the cut-off? Is it only "real" abuse after one trip to the ER? Two? Ten? That's how people wind up on the "But I love him/her; (s)he's really a good person!" cycle. And what about emotional or verbal abuse? Yes, I realize those terms are overused, like "stalker" and "creeper", but that doesn't change the fact that those types of abuse are both very real and all too common. Grabbing an arm may be minor (to you) as far as physical harm goes, but boundaries are, by their nature, relative. Stepping over them to gain control is manipulation, period. If that's happening or someone feels threatened by a loved one, they need to take action, whether they more firmly establishing where their boundaries are or, after a point which only they can determine, getting the hell out of the relationship altogether. It's about respect for your partner and for yourself.

Guys will tell you how they are and what they will do. Believe him. Don't think that he's kidding or that he would change for you - he won't because guys like that never do. (Same if a guy says that he can't promise that he'd never cheat, or can't promise that he won't leave. They will cheat and they will leave, so prepare for it.) Please dump him and find someone worthy of you, who won't want to hit you.
