Today, my boyfriend called and asked me why I love him. I told him because he's always there for me and continues to put up with my bipolar disorder. He promptly said "not anymore" and hung up. FML

Halloween
A failed costume, stolen candy and a very real scare: Halloween, the one night when fear is allowed.
Same thing different taste
Thanks honey
Today, I was feeling really down, so I texted my boyfriend and asked him to tell me why he loves me, thinking he would cheer me up. His response? "Don't bug me with this stupid shit anymore. You always ask such dumb questions." FML
Today, I told my boyfriend that I love him. He replied by telling me to fuck off. FML
Today, my boyfriend told me love is like a drug. I started tearing up because this is the most romantic he has been in a while. He then went on to break up with me, telling me that my "prescription is up". FML
Today, my boyfriend and I broke up. I said that at least I was always there for him when he needed me. He said "When did I need you?" FML
Today, I got into a huge fight with my boyfriend. I called him and started yelling at him over the phone. He told me that if I wanted to end the relationship I should just hang up the phone right then. Before I could say I still love him and don't want to break up, my phone battery died. FML
Today, I told my boyfriend I loved him. His response? "Is that why you have been so clingy and annoying lately?" FML
BPD
Today, my boyfriend is blaming me for his recent diagnosis of Borderline Personality Disorder. Apparently, I should have just kept on tolerating all of his explosive outbursts, instead of "forcing" him to start couples' therapy with me. FML
Today, my boyfriend called me and dumped me. Thirty minutes later he called asking for me back. When I asked why, he said "The other girl dumped me." FML
Today, after laying down to sleep, my boyfriend seemed like he was having trouble trying to say something. After asking what was wrong a couple of times, he said, "I don't want to do this anymore" and got up and left. I had planned on telling him I love him. Saved myself some embarrassment I guess. FML
Today, I told my boyfriend he's the only good thing left in my life. That's not a healthy relationship dynamic, he said, and ended up breaking up with me. FML

Am I the only one who thinks he deserves it? Nothing to do with being gay, but you pretty much just told him that he's the only one willing to take your crap. I mean as a guy, if my girlfriend told me something like that I'd be dissapointed. You make it sound like if anyone did those things for you you would fall in "love" with them. I mean at the end of the day maybe he was just being a dickhole but really, you should think about your response.

How can the OP deserve that? Do you not think that being there for someone when they need it and helping them through their psychological difficulties (for lack of a better expression) is not important? Of course that isn't the ONLY reason why he loved them, it just happens to be a very important reason why they're "that special someone". Whenever my boyfriend asks me why I love him, "always being there for me" is always one of the first things I say along with "not getting frustrated with my mood swings (hormonal, girl-time mood swings)". Is that a legitimate reason for him to break up with me? No. He's smart enough to know that there's thousands of reasons why I love him, but being there for me just happens to be a very important thing. My friends also are there for me when I need them too, but I don't fall in love with them. They're my friends. There's a difference between having a friend there for you and the person you love there for you.

Nah, I agree with 45. I'd be a bit upset if that was the only reason my bf gave me for loving me. Sure, it's an important part of a relationship but it's not a reason to love someone, and he didn't give his bf any other reasons. He was probably feeling a bit used and when he got that as an answer that was the last straw. It seems a bit odd otherwise that someone who has always been supportive in the past would ask that if they intended to break up with the OP regardless of the answer.

Well XO it's kinda like what the woman a few comments from under me said, you don't love someone mainly for what they do for you, you love them for who they are. Obviously things like putting up with it are a big plus, but the way he worded it makes it sound like he would go for anyone who would "Put up with his bi polar disorder". More or less he should've told him how much he loves him for who he is, maybe how he's so caring and that he's the only one for the OP, but "because you put up with me" is like me telling my gf that I'm in a relationship with her "because I can't do better".

"you don't love someone mainly for what they do for you, you love them for who they are" Yea...but what they do or don't do for you is a strong reflection of who or what kind of person they are...think about it that way.

My ex was bi polar and used it as an excuse to **** around. "Oh sorry I ****** 3 of your friends, not my fault, I was manic." What horrible thing did you pull?

just because your gf was that way doesn't mean you get to judge everyone with bipolar.

He shouldn't have been such a dick about it, but c'mon. Look at the OP's answer: "because he's always there for ME... put up with MY bipolar disorder." His reasons were pretty self-centered. ****, I'm disabled & can barely walk without help, but I make sure my hubby hears what I love about who HE is, not what he does for me.

It can be hard to date and love with metal illness. I have lived it. Both parties have to be committed, and maybe he wasn't ready. I bet there are thing about ur bi polar he loved ( hyper sexuality) If you are young it is alot for him to get even if he new at the beginning. There is love for people with mental illness. Have you talked to your Dr about managing symptoms? Good luck sweetie
