Today, I was in the car for 8 hours driving home from North Carolina with my family. We brought my dog along and I was petting her for most of the ride. I thought she fell asleep, so I continued to play with her. She never woke up. I played with a dead dog for almost an hour and a half. FML

Fall
Dead leaves, the first cold of the season and an umbrella flipped inside out: fall, the season of grace.
Same thing different taste
Today, I was babysitting, and the family dog was unable to move, so I had texted the mother about it. We put the small dog on the couch to make it comfortable while the mother was on her way to get the dog and take it to the vet. Turns out, we sat with a dead dog for about ten minutes. FML
Today, I went to move my dog that had been napping in the middle of my bed for the last few hours, only to discover that he wasn't napping. He died. FML
Woof!
Today, I was training a new person. The job included driving around the city all day, during which she decided to hang her head out the window and bark like a dog. I spent an 8-hour shift with her. FML
Good boy
Today, I was in my car with my window down at a red light. Outside, a sweet old lady was sitting on a bench with her dog sleeping next to her. I yelled out the window to tell her how cute her dog was. She replied, "He's dead" and cried. FML
Today, my girlfriend of a couple of months texted me that she was very sad because her puppy had just passed away. Feeling sorry for her, I bought her another puppy of the same breed. I wrapped it in a blanket and placed it on the passenger seat and went to pick her up from school. She sat on it. FML
What a treat
Today, I asked if my friend wanted to come meet my dog and give him a treat. We were walking to my back yard, her holding 3 hot dogs, when she said, "I think your dog is dead!" I said, "No, he's just old and sleeps all the time and won't wake up until you pet him because he's deaf." He was dead. FML
Road rage
Today, while in the car with my mom, we accidentally ran over a dog who had sprinted into the road. Instead of stopping, my mom continued to drive as if nothing happened. Every time I tried to bring it up, she merely talked loudly over me. FML
Today, I woke up, patted my dog and kissed his nose. He was dead. FML
Today, my family and I went to the coast. Our dog was off the leash because we were the only people around. He was delighted to find a dead seal carcass and roll around in its remains. We then had a 3 hour drive home. FML
Heavy load
Today, I thought it would be nice to take my obese dog for a walk, since she hasn't had one in a long time. She was doing great, until we were about a mile from our house. She plopped down on the ground and wouldn't move. Nobody was home so I had to carry her all the way back to our house. FML

This is terribly sad, but at least the dog passed away peacefully whilst being showered with affection.

A dog can die of heat, so 8 hours in the car is a very long time, and if it was hot outside and you didn't have any air conditioning, that can pretty much give you a cause of death right there. So, if it did die of heat, YDI for not knowing what could endanger your pet's life. If it didn't die of heat, then, FYL, but at least it didn't die alone.

We don't have a fur coat all over, so what's endurable for us can be worse for a dog, and the OP didn't specify anything about heat exhaustion, hence why I didn't presume but pointed out both options. You are a cretin for "going ahead" and presuming things which weren't specified. Humans and dogs are very different. Here's a quote for you: "Contrary to what most people believe, dogs overheat more quickly than humans do. They wear their fur coat all year long and they do not sweat. They cool their bodies by panting, or blowing out heat, which is much less effective than sweating. Even if you are comfortable, your dog may be too hot!" Good day.

I feel terribly sorry that your dog died. RIP to your dog. But, I still have to spill the beans and say YDI for not being able to tell a dead dog from one that's alive.

You bored your dog to death! Halfway through your FML, I felt the life force leaving my body from extreme ennui. Jesus, you are dull. Get a hobby, get a job, get laid, get a life. Anything, just get interesting!

lessthanbee, I don't know how THAT comment got moderated. I didn't use any foul language. I regularly get away with a lot worse. I'll try to repeat it for you. I said: You bored your dog to death. Halfway through your FML, I felt the life force draining from my body from extreme ennui. God, you are dull. Get a hobby, get a job, get laid, get a life. Whatever you do, get interesting!
