Today, I received an early Christmas gift from my boyfriend of ten months. It was soap. In a few days he will be receiving his very expensive specialized car horn he has wanted for years, while I will be enjoying my new bar of Walmart brand soap, which has already begun to give me a rash. FML

Fall
Dead leaves, the first cold of the season and an umbrella flipped inside out: fall, the season of grace.
Same thing different taste
Today, my boyfriend decided to gift me soap, a razor, and deodorant for my birthday. FML
Cheapskate suds
Today, it turns out the beautiful, "organic" artisanal soap my boyfriend gave me actually came from the 99 cents store. He just wrapped it in some cellophane and gave it to me. I’m currently itching to death from the godawful rash and hives it gave me. I may need to go to the ER. FML
Today, I received from my husband for Christmas the body lotion that only he uses. And nothing else. FML
Today, my boyfriend and I gave each other early Christmas gifts. I gave him a basketball signed by his favorite player, which took me forever to find. He got me diet pills. FML
Today, my boyfriend gave me a gift. A half-used bottle of body lotion that belonged to his dead wife. FML
Today, my boyfriend gave me acne cream for my birthday. FML
Pampered
Today, I went to the Walgreens by my house and bought 8 body wash soaps because my boyfriend needs that much for 3 days. I’ve done this so many times that the girls at the register know me, and my boyfriend, by name. They gave me a bunch of $5 off coupons because they felt so bad for me. FML
Today, my boyfriend decided to give me my Christmas present early because he's going to his grandparents' house for Christmas and won't see me. I was excited, until I unwrapped a sweater that I left there a month ago. FML
Today, my husband came home with a Christmas gift from a coworker. It's the same thing I got him. FML
Thanks, I guess…
Today, it's my birthday. I don't mind crappy gifts, but I have to wonder why the hell my boyfriend bought me a home enema kit. FML

Ten months and you're already buying him expensive crap?

I could see if it was one of those fancy soap/lotion etc. gift packages. I'd be more concerned that he wants a specialized car horn, that sounds pretty lame to me.

At least he got you a gift in the first place. Don't be so materialistic and petty. Maybe next time you'll think before wasting a lot of money on a gift for someone you haven't been dating for very long.

buying someone an expensive gift is not a big deal for someone that's not materialistic.

I sent my boyfriend a present, I don't know if he is sending me one but I wanted to make him smile

Sounds like a prank gift to me. On the day he's probably going to present you with the perfect gift, and you're going to feel like a bitch for coming on here and whining about your crappy bar of soap from your crappy boyfriend. Or he'll see your post, decide the materialistic streak runs a little too deep, and ditch you. Either way, YDI

First off, you've only been dating for ten months. Second, don't get someone something nice just so you can get something nice in return. Third, if you want to be a dick about getting someone something nice, don't get them it. Fourth, it's called communication. Personally, I don't see why you'd even get him something expensive when you've barely been going out. Besides, if it bugs you that much, just get him a bar of soap back. ...and then dump him, because you obviously have some issues.

You shouldn't have got him something worth so much money. Personally, I'd be more worried about what he is implying by getting you soap than what it cost...

He obviously bought you soap as a hint about something.....take a shower!

This sucks but maybe he doesn't have a job and it really poor so can't afford a gift for you. If so, then you couldn't of expected anything more. If not then... unlucky.

I still don't understand why anyone would obsess over expensive car horns. Aren't there better ways to spend the money?

Seeing as this is an EARLY christmas present do you not think he has got you something else for the actual day
