Today, I was feeling super nervous about driving because I had my first accident the day before. As I stopped at a red light, I got rear-ended. FML
Today, I was in a car accident. After screaming at the woman for running into me, I got in my car and drove off. As I was driving away, I was staring her down when I ended up rear-ending the person in front of me. FML
Today, I let my son drive us home. After just 10 feet, he crashed into a parked cop car. It was my squad car. FML
Today, I had my first accident in 5 years of driving. I clipped a Ford Fiesta, mirror to mirror. His mirror is totally destroyed. Mine is fine. I was so stressed afterwards that I reversed straight into another car. FML
Today, I was driving home when a guy crashed into me from behind. I got out of my car and told him that I was going to call the cops. He then asked me if we could move to a corner because we were blocking the way, so we then got back in to move. I looked in the mirror to see him driving off. FML
Today, I had my first car crash. I ran into a parked car and the owner saw it happen. I then accidentally opened my door straight into her car as well when I went to give her my information. FML
Today, a truck rear-ended my car and drove off. I could see everything from my office, everything except his license plate. FML

Well he sort of deserves it for sitting in your blind spot. Blaming one person is only the bs way to get out of being at fault. My father taught me that bot being at fault is a lot harder than just not being in an accident in the first place, speed up or slow down if in someone's blind spot. Let's make the roads full of less idiots.

OP was merging into the next lane, incidentally containing a cop. It doesn't matter if he was "sitting" in his blind spot. OP is in the wrong in all cases. However, this begs the question: cops drive trucks now?

From the way it's worded Op has a big blind spot... "side swiped the truck next to me". Yes maybe you should move if you are in someone's blind spot.. if you both realize that's where you are and have the space to move. I don't know about you but when I'm driving I generally don't think about where I am in position to the car next to me as long as we both are in our lanes.

That sucks. That's why you should always be aware of everything around you when driving. It could be worse though. You could have injured/killed the cop. I hope the cop wasn't a complete dick about it. I had an accident with an FBI agent in a government car... Not a pleasant experience.
