Today, I found out I have an option on my phone to postpone the sending of my text messages. I thought it would be cute to send my boyfriend texts saying, "I love you and sweet dreams" every night at midnight for a month. He broke up with me and now I can't figure out how to stop the texts. FML

Halloween
A failed costume, stolen candy and a very real scare: Halloween, the one night when fear is allowed.
Same thing different taste
Today, my boyfriend broke up with me via text message. Every 20 minutes or so, I'll get a notification that I have a new message, and I check it just to find that same message sitting there. I'm being trolled by my own phone. FML
Today, I broke up with my boyfriend of 2 years because I was tired of his childishness and anger, so he decided to send me 540 random text messages of scrambled letters in order to mess up my phone as well, as make me pay 20 cents for each message. FML
Girl power!
Today, I was trying to break up with my boyfriend over text. I was being really careful to phrase it nicely, and I hit send with a sigh of relief. Except I sent the text to my mom, who now keeps sending me unsolicited advice about my "love life" with an occasional "You go, girl!" FML
Now listen here, you lot…
Today, I sent out a Happy Snow Day text to 20 of my closest friends. My boyfriend, who doesn't have an iPhone, didn't realize it was a group text. He sent back a text breaking up with me. To all the people in the group message. FML
Spineless
Today, I received a text from my boyfriend breaking up with me. Not only was this a bit cowardly but he'd also sent it in a reply to our last interaction on our phones, a group chat with some of our friends, who started commenting with sad face emojis before I had even had the chance to see it. FML
Today, at exactly midnight, I get a text from my boyfriend saying we were done. I had just seen him 4 hours ago when we were out celebrating my birthday, and asked why he didnt just tell me then. He replies 'I couldn't break up with you on your birthday but i wanted it to be over ASAP' FML
Yikes
Today, my boyfriend of two years sent me a text message saying, "Don't worry I'm gonna break up with her soon. Love you." FML
Guilt trip
Today, I sent my boyfriend a sweet text message, since he recently complained that I'm rarely romantic. Instead of being happy, he decided that since it's so out of character for me, I must be cheating on him and must have only sent it out of guilt. FML
Today, I woke up to a text from my boyfriend that said, "Dude, I think she knows I'm going to break up with her." FML
Today, I got a text from my girlfriend saying she needed more phone credit, so I bought her more and got another message saying "Great, now I have enough credit for this..." as she spelled out a three page message breaking up with me. Yes, I paid for her to break up with me via text. FML

That's obnoxious. Why at midnight? And why pre-planned? That's probably not the reason he broke up with you, but it's a contributing factor. Let's imagine you're sleeping after a long, busy day. After you fall asleep, you hear beeping or you can feel your phone vibrate, just to see it's from your partner who sent you a text message. You've been receiving the same one for a few days at the same time. Obviously they suspect it's pre-planned, and they think, "They can't take the 5 seconds to send me a real text message?" And maybe it was because you used the word "love". "Love" is a strong word. Most people in relationships don't "love" each other. YDI for assuming he'd enjoy those needy-sounding texts.

I disagree with the fact that the OP would be woken up every night but I do believe that it would jut be plain annoying to receive the same text every night and know it's coming. It's not about the fact that she wanted to say I love you to her boyfriend every night, it's just like she was too lazy to vary it nightly so she preprogrammed it, thus taking out some of the meaning.

I think it's sweet. It's not like she's calling him to talk every night, and it's just a little reminder that she loves him each night, that would probably make him smile. If he's not in the mood, hitting 2 keys to delete it or just you know, not reading it at all, isn't a big effort. Hardly harassing or annoying. Some people need to get a grip on reality. Or get a gf/bf so you have some idea what it's like to have someone love you. I'm guessing from the sound of most of your comments you have no idea. A lot of people don't go to bed until after midnight, so it's stupid to assume she was waking him too. Take it into the cell phone store and ask them to fix it for you.

@#30 Maybe he's awake at midnight, or maybe he puts his phone on silent before going to sleep, like I do. I wouldn't assume that the texts wake him up. I have to agree that "slag" is a fantastic word, though.

You may have come across as clingy and smothering, depending on how long this relationship has gone on. Or it could have been something totally unrelated. Learn from it and move on. While you're trying to figure out how to stop it, send your ex a message that you're sorry about the texts, you're trying to get them stopped, etc., and you're not a psycho bitch trying to stalk him. Just be honest about your dilemma but make it clear you're respecting his space. In time you'll laugh about this.

Your message lost any true feeling once you automated it, is it too much bother for you to type out "I love you" every night? 8 letters and you can't be bothered?? Doesn't seem like you love him that much. Automated messaged are what companies use to piss everyone off telling them how much money they could save them on electricity or car insurance, not what someone uses to tell someone they love them.

Woo, represent Saskatchewan, even if you are a smothering gf

I think you should send him another text message saying that your sorry for the text messages he has been recieving from you and that you are trying to stop them but don't know how. But maybe he has changed his number already.
