Today, I figured out why I have been feeling so drowsy and lethargic for the past week. My daughter had been slipping sleeping pills into my coffee as payback for taking her phone away. FML

Fall
Dead leaves, the first cold of the season and an umbrella flipped inside out: fall, the season of grace.
Same thing different taste
Today, I found out why I can't sleep at night. My wife switched my sleep aid pills with energy pills. FML
Missed it
Today, I found the cause of last night's crippling insomnia was the sleeping pill on the kitchen floor. FML
Sorry!
Today, my daughter has an ear infection and hasn’t slept more than 15 minutes a night for the last three days. Well tonight she was finally asleep, but I needed to take my own tablets. I had a violent coughing fit while choking on them, and woke her up. FML
Lord give me strength
Today, my adult daughter was hospitalized for severe fever, diarrhea, and fainting. The doctor couldn't find any cause other than sleep deprivation, because I started making her wake up at 7 am. I’ve never met anyone so ridiculously weak in my entire life. FML
Today, I advised my daughter to not drink a Coke before bed. She smiled at me and reassured me that it could be balanced out with sleeping pills. I'm raising a future drug addict. FML
Intervention
Today, after getting my wisdom teeth pulled, I woke up from a much needed nap realizing I should take my pain medication. My mother then told me she had thrown them out so I wouldn't get addicted and become a drug dealer. FML
Today, after a week of being tired and depressed, I realized my bottles for anti-depressants and muscle relaxants had gotten switched around. FML
Trippin'
Today, I checked the camera I set up to find out who has been stealing my prescription painkillers: my wife, my daughter, or my son. Turns out they all are. FML
Straight into my veins
Today, after being sick and not having coffee for a month, my body has invented a new way of processing caffeine: The tiredness and lethargy remains untouched, while the caffeine-jolt is converted directly into a fuzzy headache. FML
Don't do drugs, kids
Today, I've been awake for nearly three days due to homework and my mom's wedding preparations, so I took some Adderall to keep me awake at school. I took too much, totally zoned out in class, became hopelessly fascinated by my own hand, and was accused of doing drugs. FML

Time to put the hammer down. On her phone. Repeatedly!

Your daughter sounds like she needs to learn some lessons about maturity. I suggest you find a way to deal with this before she steps up her game to something more harmful.

I think it's best you look into scared straight because your daughter needs to learn what she's doing is serious and could have very bad consequences.

I'd seriously consider sending her away to boarding school or boot camp (or even prison, I'm pretty sure tampering with food and drink is unlawful). She very well could have done permanent damage if she was careless or vindictive enough.

I'd scare her straight collab with your local police station and scare her into realising what she did was serious an actual crime

Tell her to shape up or ship out.

Scare the crap out of her. Before you confront her about it, have a family friend pick her up from school one day and sit her down for a talk..... about how you fell asleep behind the wheel and in critical condition in the hospital. Have details worked out and maybe a friend that can cry on cue. Dont keep it up for long, but maybe 10-15 minutes before you walk into the room holding the sleeping pills.

That kind of "scared straight" crap only works on TV. In the real world it would destroy what little respect this girl may still have for her mother and make her more likely to be abusive towards her not less. Anyone who can be so self centered that they would do this to their own mother over a cell phone would only feel that they were being subjected to abuse and manipulation and they would lose what little trust or respect they may still have for her mother. .

Holy crap I think maybe you need to take a look through that phone and see what else is on there and also get your daughter some serious counseling.

soo your medicine cabinet is child friendly :)

"Daughter" doesn't necessarily mean "child". She could be a toddler, or more likely she could be a teen. My family's medicine cabinet is open to whoever can reach it, but even my eleven year old brother has enough brains not to go rooting through someone else's medication. If OP's kid is smart enough to try and drug them, they're probably past the age where they would shove anything they found in there in their mouth.

I can be a vengeful person but I'd never ever dream of doing that to anyone. Parent, friend or worst enemy. So many scenarios that could happen.

In addition to a very, very serious talk with your daughter, I'd consider having a talk with her teachers/parents of her friends/anyone else she's around when not around you. If she went this far when she was mad at you, she might do serious damage to a peer as well. Time to check in and look for other warning signs, and maybe let some people know that she shouldn't be trusted too much.
