Today, after a week of being tired and depressed, I realized my bottles for anti-depressants and muscle relaxants had gotten switched around. FML
Collection
Fall
Dead leaves, the first cold of the season and an umbrella flipped inside out: fall, the season of grace.
Same thing different taste
Today, I had an anxiety attack because I thought I'd lost my anxiety medication. It ended up being on the shelf right where I left it. FML
Today, I found out why I can't sleep at night. My wife switched my sleep aid pills with energy pills. FML
Asshole
Today, someone at work took my delicate medication out of the fridge to make room for their lunch. Now my medication has expired. FML
Today, at work in a call center, I went into my locker to get my pain pills from a recent surgery. When I opened the bottle, half my pills spread all over the floor. My boss walked by and said, "I knew it!" FML
Stranded
Today, I tore a muscle in my back. At the hospital, I was prescribed some pain medication. My husband got me settled at home, with everything I needed within reach, and left for work. As I picked up the bottle to take the first pill, I knocked it on the floor. It rolled under the couch. FML
Today, when I picked up my repeat subscription of anti-anxiety medication, they had changed the packaging to be more 'child safe'. Now it's so hard to get the pills out that I had an anxiety attack trying to take one. FML
Today, I was given a bottle of vitamins that are supposed to help your memory. I forgot them at home. FML
Repetition
Today, just like everyday, I opened my med box, took out a blister pack and took one of the pills before putting the pack back in the box. Today, not like everyday, I had diarrhea. Turns out one of the packs was laxatives put in my med box by my boyfriend because they looked the same as my meds. FML
Today, the water was shut off, so I had to wash down my anti convulsants, anti depressants and sleep aids with an old, flat, non-alcoholic beer from the night before. I don't think I've ever had a more mentally dysfunctional cocktail. FML
Welcome back!
Today, I came back home from a 3-month trip to see my boyfriend and his family. Leaving them was obviously very emotional, and to top it off as soon as I got home, I realized I'd left my antidepressants behind, and I now have the flu as well. FML

How come you didn't check what you were taking after the first time you took a pill and didn't feel better. Also you be more responsible and check what pills you are taking your action after might hurt you. Ex muscle relaxer and alcohol don't mix well

That's why I check the labels on my medication bottles

Because anti depressants take a while to both gain and lose effect. A minimum of four weeks is suggested to get the medicine in your body, and it usually takes 3-7 days for symptoms that the medication isn't working anymore.

The same thing happened to me after I stupidly put some small pink allergy pills into a pepto bismal bottle after the lid of the allergy bottle broke. A couple of months later my stomach was bothering me so I took a pepto pill. It was small and pink and tasted like pepto bismal. 20 minutes later my stomach was still upset and I was getting tired so I took another. Then I was exhausted and nauseous. Started worrying I had the flu before I realized what I'd done.

Did you not have any other symptoms to tip you off to the withdrawal? I know coming off of my Effexor was just awful.

I start feeling withdrawal if I forget to take my Effexor even once, it's awful.

That's called addiction.

Talk about feeling shitty

Maybe it's a sign to cut the pills and seek the help to make you feel okay by yourself?

Please never make another attempt at giving advice about people's health. Ever. Clearly you don't understand mental illness.

I do know that antidepressants are never a solution, especially if people are this careless about taking them. I've seen my brother on haloperidol for fifteen years so don't judge me. I've also seen that it didn't do him any good and that therapy eventually made the difference. At a cost of feeling like a concrete wall for fifteen years and a messed up immune system as a result of long term use - for nothing. Don't lecture me on what I know. There's a giant industry that likes to make everyone believe that any effort to feel well from within is in vain. Unpopular opinion apparently, sad to see that so many people find addiction to pharmaceutical drugs a solution to mental issues rather than a symptom stopper, which is the foremost revelation of OP's story. They don't help, best case they smother - if you're serious about taking them.

Antidepressants have effects lasting weeks to months after you stop taking them. Try again.

Uh, no. The withdrawal from anti-depressants can sometimes come on immediately after missing even just one dose, and can cause a wide range of symptoms, including what can feel like depression. YOU try again.

YDI. Surely the pills look different? And if, by some chance, they are identical, you couldn't bother to read the labels?
