Today, Child Protective Services came to my house, because my 7-year-old son told people at school that he was uncomfortable sleeping in his uncle's bed. I had to explain to them that the uncle in question died 2 years ago, and that's why it felt weird. FML

Fall
Dead leaves, the first cold of the season and an umbrella flipped inside out: fall, the season of grace.
Same thing different taste
Sussy Baka
Today, my son broke his arm roughhousing with his brother on a bunk bed. While at the ER, he thought it would be funny to tell a different story to each doctor and nurse, forcing me to speak over him. They found this behavior "suspicious" and reported us to child services. FML
Today, I found my 15-year-old son sleeping on the couch. I asked why, and he said he'd rented his room out to someone on Craigslist to make extra money, so he was getting used to sleeping in the living room instead. FML
Today, I found out that my eight year old son is actually my nephew. FML
Not now
Today, at my mother's funeral, as everyone was around her casket for the viewing, my 5-year-old son in cluelessness of what was going on shouted, "Grandma is more fun when she isn't sleeping." Everyone cried. FML
Today, I was asked to babysit for a family that attends the daycare I work at. All of my coworkers warned me that they were rough kids but I shrugged it off. As soon as the parents left, the 7-year-old girl said, "Oh good now I can focus on death and my plans". FML
Halloween came early
Today, I was sleeping in my bed when I woke up in horror to see that my 34-year-old cousin, who was spending the night, was watching me sleep. Once he noticed that I was awake, he quietly left the room. I told my mom, who then told me not to tell anyone and pretend that it never happened. FML
Today, after my 5-year-old finally got over his grandmother's death, we went to a store and saw a lady that looked exactly like her. She came up to us asking if we saw her grandson; I can't get my son to stop freaking out. FML
Death at one's elbow
Today, I found out that for the past 6 months I have been sleeping next to a dead body. The cremated body of my landlord's father. It was hidden inside a wardrobe that I was not supposed to use. FML
Today, my 18 year old son asked me to check if there were any monsters under his bed. FML
Why are we even here?
Today, my parents told me that we were going to go and see my uncle, who lives very far away. I got excited, until I realized they fucking lied so I would attend the funeral of an acquaintance of my father, whom I had never met in my life, and he only met a couple times. This is why I have trust issues. FML

I'm sure it was weird for the first few months as the corpse was rotting, but your kid shoud be OK now that he's just down to a skeleton. Skeletons are cooler than teddy bears.

Get the kid a new bed! You're gonna mess him up for life! You sleep in the dead uncles bed. You don't want to? Well, neither does he! Why in the world would you tell him it's his dead uncles bed anyway. He wouldn't know unless you told him. Man, that's messed up. I'm 50 & I wouldn't sleep in my dead uncles bed! F his life!!! FHL

I think the South Park movie had a catchy song that child protective services people must have listened to. But at least they are doing their job. They could not have known all the facts, somebody just gave them a report. Better to check and verify all is well rather than just assume all is well.

Why would you make the poor kid sleep in his deceased Uncles bed!! That would really disturb me if I was him. Buy a new bed, or why dont you sleep in it?!

Giulia276, I REALLY hope you just have poor English skills and are just misreading this FML. Otherwise, you're coming off as an ignorant foreigner that is assuming that all "female parent"s PRETEND to love their children...?!? And I mean, "use them as toys"?!? What the hell is up with that statement? Everything you've posted thus far is in NO WAY relating to the situation this FML is describing. Do you just not understand? Many people here have tried especially hard to explain this FML to you, but you're still going on and on about the "female parent" who DESERVES (?!?!??) to be harassed and poorly treated by CPS employees, which is absolutely RIDICULOUS. Do you not understand, that in THIS CASE HERE, there was a simple misunderstanding: the child said something at school, the teacher thought it was a case of abuse and called CPS, and then it turned out that the mother (FEMALE PARENT) has done absolutely NOTHING. WRONG. -AT ALL-. The teacher had thought that the child had said he was sleeping WITH his uncle in his bed at night, when if fact is was only HIS UNCLE'S OLD BED that was given to the child. Open your eyes, learn some better English skills, and please, STOP posting on this FML. You are upsetting a lot of people with your unwelcome and EXTREMELY inappropriate comments.

In fact it was** Wouldn't let me correct my post for some reason. ^ Also, I'm not trying to offend anyone else by my post, I am just EXTREMELY frustrated here. What this person has been saying is quite ridiculous, and has really offended and upset -ME-, a single young mother of a three year old boy that I LOVE, WITH ALL MY HEART. :/ Thank you for understanding.x

Good lord!!! The only explanation for this foolishness from Giulia276 is trolling. I was going to make a longer comment but I think everyone else has done so sufficiently. Giulia276. It's time for you to slink back under the bridge.

Children are very superstitious and that is why he is uncomfortable sleeping in hid dead uncle's bed. Why are people saying it is cruel? I know it might sound harsh but children have to learn to adapt to the world around them and for all we know, the mother may not be able to afford another bed for her child and thought that one more suitable than say puttig him on the floor or the couch.

What the hell are you going on about? This FML (AND our posts here) has absolutely NOTHING to do with neglect, or going out and getting drunk while the child is alone... :/ Also, it would be easier to understand you if you referenced the person you're replying to by posting their post number (in the top left corner) or their username......

Giulia276 - What the hell are you even saying? You're coming off as a misogynistic douche, and that's not cool. Also, I would like to mention that NO WHERE in this FML did it imply that OP is female, or that she was using her child as a toy. Its just about some kid that had an uncle who owned a bed and died, and then the kid started sleeping in it, worded his sentances awkwardly and had a moronic teacher call CPS on his parents. I think you need to get counseling and to get over your mommy issues.

I wouldn't want to sleep in a bed where somebody died! Get a new one.
