Today, after my 5-year-old finally got over his grandmother's death, we went to a store and saw a lady that looked exactly like her. She came up to us asking if we saw her grandson; I can't get my son to stop freaking out. FML

Halloween
A failed costume, stolen candy and a very real scare: Halloween, the one night when fear is allowed.
Same thing different taste
Today, at work, I served a customer who looked so much like my grandma that I thought it actually was her. Then I remembered she died 6 months ago. I had to serve customers with a smile on my face while choking back tears for the rest of the day. FML
Not now
Today, at my mother's funeral, as everyone was around her casket for the viewing, my 5-year-old son in cluelessness of what was going on shouted, "Grandma is more fun when she isn't sleeping." Everyone cried. FML
Today, at my grandmother's funeral, my senile grandfather kept asking me "Where's granny? I've been looking for her, but I can't find her." FML
A teacher's burden
Today, a parent came into my class and told one of my 6 year-old students that their grandma died. Then the parent left. The kid started crying from the news, which then got all the other students crying. I spent the rest of the day comforting a class of kids crying over someone else's grandma. FML
Today, I'm beginning to regret explaining death to my 3-year-old son. We were at the supermarket when he looked at an elderly woman and loudly told her "You're gonna die soon!" FML
Today, while at my aunt's funeral, my grandma who has terrible memory loss asked me whose funeral we were at. I had to explain to her that her daughter had died. FML
Today, I told my grandmother I was planning a trip to take my newborn son to meet his great-great-grandfather before it was too late. She had a guilty expression on her face. My great-grandfather died 4 months ago and my family forgot to tell me. FML
Looks to Die For...
Today, my six-year-old son told me my makeup looks like his grandmother's did in the casket. FML
Hey dude!
Today, I was picking up my nephew from school. I waved when I saw him coming, shouted, “Hey dude!” The kid stared at me, confused. That’s when I realized it wasn’t my nephew, just a child who looked vaguely similar but who was now terrified. His actual mom gave me a look like she was deciding whether to call security. FML
Jinxed
Today, my phone made a random noise. I jokingly said, "Wow, I wonder who died now?" Turns out it was my son's grandmother. I had to explain it because I screamed. I also got to tell his dad that his mom just died. FML

Awe I'm so sorry that your son has to go through that. Death is such a difficult concept to grasp, even when you're older :/

That's happened to me, after my dad died, my aunt took his car and my jet-skis and gave them to her son (because she thinks she has the authority to do that) and I was only 15 so I couldn't do anything.. And her son, my cousin, was driving around the town my dad lived, with a hat on (like my dad) and, yeah. Not the best thing to see.

Should have punched your aunt in the throat.

Agreed.

Oh wow poor kid ! It's really hard to understand things like that when they are young.
Bubbelz 25
You should've gone to the police, she has no business stealing his car to give it to her kids!! Depending on when this happened, you can still sue them. Sure, it won't help your relationship with them. But she already drained that down the sink, when she stole your fathers possessions...

Yeah she even gave some of his shirts that I wanted to keep to his neighbor that no one knew. (Luckily he let me have the ones I wanted back) and it was 2 years ago this month... So doubt I can do anything now. Oh well, jets skis where about to break down, as was the jeep.

I had a similar situation when I was 5 years old after my grandmother died. Her sister looked so much like her that I got scared and screamed when she approached me at the burial. So embarrassing to think about.

Sounds like some sort of horror film

Your grandma is Jesus. Or maybe Frankenstein. There is no other possible explanation. At all. And everyone who disagrees with me is a part of the conspiracy.
PerditaDessa 38
Frankenstein? Even his monster wouldn't work for that.

There's apparently a lot of people in your conspiracy

Awww poor baby! I hope he gets over it soon.

I don't think death is something "you get over", it's just something you learn to cope and live with. I would have freaked out too. Sorry for your loss.

True enough, but perhaps those were the words that came most readily to mind for OP. Would "come to terms" with his grandma's death be a better way of phrasing it? At any rate, OP, I'm sorry about that. It was really an unfortunate coincidence.
Bubbelz 25
I believe 9 meant 'getting over' what happened with that lady.
