Today, after recovering from pneumonia and a severe asthma attack caused by my dad's fiancée's cat, he chose to keep the cat. I can't go to his house without having to go to the hospital later. FML

Halloween
A failed costume, stolen candy and a very real scare: Halloween, the one night when fear is allowed.
Same thing different taste
Sniffles
Today, my wife got drunk and adopted a kitten. She thought I’d be mad because of the money. Nope, I’m pretty sure I’m mad because I have the most severe type of cat allergy that could kill me. I can’t go in the house now until everything is sterilised, so I’m back at my dad's house. FML
Today, my cat managed to lock my dad and me outside of our house. FML
Today, I took my wife's cat to the vet for her yearly check up. I'm finishing the day at the hospital with multiple bite wounds and a deep gash in my leg. My wife chose to comfort her cat instead. FML
Today, I went to the doctors and was told I would need an inhaler. My mom came back from the pharmacy and told me the copay of $35 dollars was way too expensive, so she is making me use my cat's old inhaler. My mom values my cat's ability to breathe more then my own. FML
Today, after 25 years living with my dad, who is highly allergic to cats, I was finally able to adopt two kittens to live in my new place, just like I have always wanted. Guess who else is highly allergic to cats? Me, it seems. FML
Today, I went to the doctor to find out why I've been feeling so sick the past several weeks. Turns out, I'm severely allergic to the cat of my girlfriend of two years. I told her "It's me or the cat." She chose the cat. FML
Today, I spat up blood and had horrible chest pain. My mom still made me go to school, claiming she needed to take the cat to the vet instead of taking me to the doctor. FML
Just go already!
Today, I told my dad to go to the doctor, as he’s been hacking his lungs up every minute for a month, and I've not had a decent night’s sleep since then. He insists he’s not sick, and my mom yelled at me because she sleeps in the same room and is able to sleep through it. FML
I've got a lot going on, OK?
Today, I'm going to visit my mother in hospital. She broke her hip and my father refused to take her to hospital for 6 days, insisting she would get better. My dog had cancer surgery, which will cost me a whole month's salary. I’m still recovering from 2 major surgeries myself, and my kids are being total dorks. FML
Today, due to the heat, I had a deadly asthma attack. Where was my inhaler? My dad pawned it for beer money. What did my dad do about my attack? Told me to quit being a Drama Queen. I had to go across the street and beg for a ride to the ER from my neighbor. FML

No he's not. I can't see why OP's dad should make his fiancée permanently get rid of her cat when OP can just take anti-allergy medication before he goes to their house (yes, it really works, and it's cheap). Even if OP lives there, all he has to do is take some Benadryl every day, that's what cat-owners that are allergic to cats do.

While I feel bad for you and your allergies, it's really a dick move on your part to expect your Dad to get rid of a cat, just so that you can visit him more often. First if all, that's not your dad's cat, therefore he has little to no say in decisions regarding thhe cat. Second, that isn't your home so you don't get any say in what pets they have. This would be understandable if it was your home and you were there all the time. As it is, go find some allergy meds for when you absolutely have to go to his house, and find places to meet your dad outside of his home so that you can stay allergy-free.

Okay, it sucks that you're allergic to the cat, but you can't expect someone you don't live with to ditch their pet for you. Go to the doctor and get an asthma inhaler, if you don't have one already. Make sure you always have it with you if you go over there, and take allergy medication before you go over, and take more while over depending on how long you're there. Depending on how bad your allergy is, the medication may not seem like it is doing much but it really is better than nothing. I've got really bad cat and dog allergies that trigger my asthma and almost everyone I know has multiple cats and dogs, so I've been there.

No offense, Op, but...from what I'm getting in your post, it seems as though you don't live there. Why should he try to force the woman he's about to marry to get rid of her beloved pet? You may think it's a simple matter of "oh get rid of the effing thing", but to many people, myself included, pets are every bit as important as other members of the family. Some people would be truly devastated to have to get rid of their pets. I have no children, but I have my three cats. They *are* like *my* children. If I had a fiance whose non-resident son was in your position, and my fiance tried making me get rid of my pet, I'd take my pet and leave him. Because there's no way I'd let another person, man or woman, fiance or family, dictate whether or not I could have my beloved cats. Sorry but, this ain't your call. Get over yourself.

While it is unfortunate that you are allergic to cats, you don't live with your dad, so I don't see why he should have to get rid of his fianceé's cat. You can take medicine or limit your visits.

If you don't live there I don't see a problem with them keeping the cat
