Today, after a relaxing week away, my husband and I came home to discover our 17 year old son crashed one of our cars against the other. FML

Halloween
A failed costume, stolen candy and a very real scare: Halloween, the one night when fear is allowed.
Same thing different taste
Today, I let my son drive us home. After just 10 feet, he crashed into a parked cop car. It was my squad car. FML
Two in one
Today, I accidentally crashed my mom's car into my dad's car. FML
Confess!
Today, I woke up and saw my new car was gone and my son seemed very shifty. When I questioned him with the cops, he admitted to taking it for a joyride and "leaving it" behind a derelict mall. We drove over. It was wrapped around a light post, completely destroyed. FML
Today, I let my son take my car out for a spin, since he just got his licence. He didn't make it out of our street before totaling it. FML
Today, my son thought he'd take my new car for a drive without permission. He accelerated straight into a tree, reversed into a lamppost and then accelerated again into the neighbours car. FML
Today, I let my 19-year-old son drive my Lexus to his date. At 11:00 p.m., I watched him pull into the driveway with a broken taillight, marks and scratches all over the car, the front bumper missing, and him being nearly passed out because he's so drunk. FML
Today, my boyfriend crashed our car into the car ahead. He was trying to pull away from the traffic lights faster than the person next to us, a ten-year-old kid on a bicycle. FML
Today, my mom let my younger brother borrow my car. He managed to crash it through the garage door. While I was in another country. Somehow, I manage to get berated by my mom because I'm not doing enough to make my brother feel better about him having an accident involving my car and my house. FML
McSteamy
Today, I illicitly borrowed my dad's car to go to the store, but crashed into my mom's car as she and dad were returning from my grandma's house. Both cars are totalled, my mom is in hospital with a broken collarbone, and I realised dads really can make steam come out their ears if they’re really mad. FML
My son the moron
Today, my son got pulled over by a cop for speeding. He decided it was bullshit and floored the gas. He barely made it half a mile before losing control and crashing into a house. Now I'm being sued by the homeowner, my son is in jail, and my car is totaled. FML

Hey don't call whoever did that a idiot. I call them a artistic genius for that beautiful work of art.

problem is teens typically don't have money

Wanna bet that he won't pay? :P

It's called getting a job. He's 17 not 13. Hell I had a full time job when I was 13. (16 now)

Wow, I would have a serious talk with him.
Dave_Davington 34
Is it just me, or is "have a talk with him/her" the FML community's solution to everything?
cakefete2 31
Just you. Our solutions include such classics as "I would sue" or "dump him/her".

I would whoop that child's ass. And, being 17, I would be expecting that ass whooping!

Would you like to have a talk about it?
saf99me 16
When I say "serious talk", I mean push him down a well.

You are not his dad

Hey, at least he didn't throw a huge party and trash the house! Or did he
Mohamedegypt 13
I was actually expecting that as I was reading lol, but the car thing is much worst than a party in my opinion.

Was he drunk?

I'm surprised he waited til you guys got back and found it instead of telling you while you were away and let you try to blow a bit of steam off first. But yeah definitely make him get a job if he doesn't already have one and start paying you for the damages
cristy91 33
Maybe he was planning on the "deny deny deny" defense when they came home but that clearly didn't work.
Smooth_Criminal 24
You're surprised? Most teens hide things from their parents until the last minute.
Mohamedegypt 13
maybe he was just trying to let them have a relaxing time so that the aren't in a bad mood to know. ..I mean why ruin the vacation, nothing they can do till they come back, my opinion is at least they enjoyed their time better than having it in the back of Their mind the whole trip.
Brandi_Faith 34
Maybe it happened while they were on the plane ride home and he couldn't get a hold of them.

Hopefully insurance covers everything. I would hate to rely on a 17 year old to get the money back. It would probably take years.
onlychildFTW 34
Well it's a good thing interest rates cover years #46. They can charge interest until it's paid back. That's what I'd do to my kid if they did that. I'd make sure they pay it all back + interest if it takes that long.

Hey, at least he didn't crash it through the side of the house, running over a china cabinet full of fine china in the process. (Yes, this happened to somebody I knew) I sense a lot of chores in his future, OP
mewfasa35 12
I'm not a parent, especially not to a 17 year old. But I would make them work their ass off to pay for that. Totally irresponsible on his part!!!
