Today, I let my 19-year-old son drive my Lexus to his date. At 11:00 p.m., I watched him pull into the driveway with a broken taillight, marks and scratches all over the car, the front bumper missing, and him being nearly passed out because he's so drunk. FML

Halloween
A failed costume, stolen candy and a very real scare: Halloween, the one night when fear is allowed.
Same thing different taste
Today, I let my son take my car out for a spin, since he just got his licence. He didn't make it out of our street before totaling it. FML
Today, after a relaxing week away, my husband and I came home to discover our 17 year old son crashed one of our cars against the other. FML
I blame the parents
Today, I picked up my idiot 20 year-old son from a party. He was shit-faced drunk and managed to drop his vape out the window as I was driving. He tried to open the door of the moving car to get out and look for it, and I had to grab him and pull him back in. Legally, this moron is an adult. FML
Today, I let my son drive us home. After just 10 feet, he crashed into a parked cop car. It was my squad car. FML
Confess!
Today, I woke up and saw my new car was gone and my son seemed very shifty. When I questioned him with the cops, he admitted to taking it for a joyride and "leaving it" behind a derelict mall. We drove over. It was wrapped around a light post, completely destroyed. FML
Today, I went to a party to see my crush. He offered me a drink and I declined telling him that I don't drink because alcohol makes people act stupid and crash their cars. He then saw me back into a car parked on the street and shatter my backlights as I reversed from the driveway to go home. FML
Today, I actually heard my 14 year-old son muse to himself, "If I can drive drunk in Grand Theft Auto, how hard could it be in real life?" FML
Today, I was giving my son a driving lesson. He blatantly ran a red light, so I told him to pull over to let me drive us home. As I walked over to the driver-side door, he instead locked me out and drove off by himself. FML
Public menace
Today, my dad is too old to drive, period, and yet while I was at work my wife thought it was a good idea to let him try her new Mercedes, which by the way I bought and insured. He used the accelerator like he was driving a shitbox Nissan and destroyed our local kebab shop's big front window and door. FML
Enabling
Today, I let my boyfriend drive my car, knowing that he doesn't have a license. While he was out, he ran a stop sign, collided with another vehicle, and then left the scene of the accident. Then he lied to me about how the accident happened so I "wouldn't be so upset." FML

DUI. Hit and run. A total disrespect for you and your property. A total disregard for the safety and welfare of others. Sounds like you’ve got more troubles than car repairs.

I'd call the police. Sounds like he needs to learn a lesson the hard way, fast, before he does any other massively stupid shit.

Definetly get him into a rehab center asap. Also don't let a young kid drive an exspensive car, they are bound to get scratches and dents on the car.*edit* Hopefully hit didn't hit someone or there car and the car got messed up from him going going over a curb or something like that. Again your kid needs rehab. DUI is. bad enough but this is a hit and run.

I certainly hope that you will make him work until he's paid off every penny of the repair costs. And make him get his own car if he wants to drive anywhere. Do not help him pay for it in any way, shape, or form. Especially do not cosign for any loans.

Jesus if that was my son and the drunk car accident didn’t kill him, I would

Police don’t teach lessons for parents. That’s really a horrible idea.

In this case, they do. He broke a ton of laws. Who knows if he hit someone and left them dead on the side of the road. He needs to be held accountable for his actions. It’s hard to do when it’s your kid, turn them in for, but it has to be done.

before you go calling the cops or insurance ask your son "what or who did he hit" and try to figure out what happened. Then call it in. If no one was hurt, theres nothing to worry about, he may lose his lisance or get a fine and learn a life lesson. If someone was hurt or killed with your vehicle, you could end up doing the time, dont neglect calling it in just because he's family.

OK so DUI is a bad thing. I'd inquire more about the accident. If his fault, then he needs to pay up and man up. And no more permission driving something like a lexus.

How well do you know your child? Well enough to know not to trust him with your Lexus?

On the bright side, next time he asks to borrow your car, you can give him an enthusiastic “****, no!”

Sounds like the date didn't go very well...
