End of the road

Fall
Dead leaves, the first cold of the season and an umbrella flipped inside out: fall, the season of grace.
Today, I got hit by a car walking to work. My first thought wasn't to call 911 or my husband, but to call work to let them know I wouldn't be able to make it in for my shift. FML
Today, I realized I need a new job. This happened when I was seriously considering ways to break my leg so I could stay at home for a day and not have to deal with my boss. FML
Today, I didn't feel like going to work, so I called in sick. Five hours later while out shopping, I got hit by a car at a crosswalk. Now I'm laid-up in the local hospital, really wishing I was with the guys at work. FML
Today, trying to be a good role model for the kids behind me, I stopped and thoroughly checked both sides of the road before crossing. I still managed to get hit by a car. FML
Today, I was walking from my office to the place I had parked my car, a distance of approximately three blocks. As I was about to round the last corner, I was forced to dive out of the way of a speeding car. When I looked up, I noticed that it was my car. FML
Today, I offered to stay late at my delivery job because it was snowing and several people called out. An hour later I got rear ended. FML
Today, I snuck out of work 2 hours early. As I was speeding away so I wouldn't be seen, I rear-ended my boss as he was leaving the lower parking lot for a late lunch. FML
Today, I got up and left for work despite being really sick, because I had a big meeting. Halfway to work, in deadlocked traffic, my boss texts me to let me know he's rescheduling the meeting to tomorrow because of personal conflicts. FML
Today, I got pissed and tried to storm out of work, only to get outside and realize I couldn't because I'd let my coworker borrow my car for lunch. FML
Today, I was sick, so I went into work to see if I could get my shift covered, instead of just calling in. I ended up working an extra hour. FML

Satisfy that urge by stepping in front of a parked car and then turn around and walk to the nearest employment center. No job is worth your mental health

Sounds to me like you should start sending in resumes if you're that unhappy with your current work place...

I k now that feeling well OP. The only words of wisdom I can offer, since I'm doing it now, it send out resumes and see if you can get something else while working at my shitty job. I still need a pay check to pay bills. You could try doing that and see what happens. Unless you really don't give any *****, you just quit and search for a job everyday.

I used to teach. It was not a good fit for me. I'd go skiing on the weekends and deliberately ski in terrain that was a little outside my comfort zone, because if I broke a bone or two, at least I'd get a few days off while I was in the hospital! I finally realized that this maybe wasn't a healthy way to be, and when a position opened in library services, I applied. I had a good enough rapport with the director that she unofficially hired me as soon as I turned in my application but left the job posting up until I could finish out the semester...we agreed that my leaving less than a month before finals would be a dick move, lol. I've worked in libraries ever since, and I love it. You might not get that lucky in your first job after this, OP, but whatever you do will be better than a job that has you contemplating self harm. Best of luck.

there's a 70-30% chance you'll miss work permanently if you do that.

I've been there. Trust me, it can get better! I moved from a job I was miserable in to a much better one and didn't look back. It made me realise that you shouldn't put up with being so unhappy at work. Best of luck, OP!

Wow.. First off you should never come to that.. I felt the same as you last summer and it was damaging my health.. I did the right thing and left.. No job is worth that

Please get help, I was in that place recently and as soon as I was out it was better. You're not trapped, no-one can force you to stay there if you really don't want to be there. See if you can get signed off and find a professional to talk to. Just don't stay there with those thoughts, you're better than that, you deserve better.
