Today, my lawyer threatened to sue me because I can't afford his bill, which he sent to me after getting me out of a lawsuit. FML

Fall
Dead leaves, the first cold of the season and an umbrella flipped inside out: fall, the season of grace.
Same thing different taste
Today, the extremely uncooperative client whom I'm trying to defend in court sent me a letter in which he threatened to sue me, because charging him for my services supposedly violates his "constipational rights". FML
Today, I got a bill from my former attorney for the call he made to me begging me not to turn him in for stealing all my money and almost causing me lose my home. FML
Today, I had to explain to a potential client that I wouldn't represent him, because suing his neighbor for calling him a pansy would get us laughed out of court and likely get me disbarred. His response was to get violent and threaten to sue me for violating his civil rights. FML
Fight!
Today, I got a call from the county’s courthouse where I used to live saying I was being sued for fraud and expected in court to defend myself. Apparently, my ex took a loan out in my name and now I get to pay $2300 worth of legal fees and restitution to this loan company. FML
Better call Saul
Today, because my lawyer made a mistake in 2013, I have to pay a fine of over 500.000 euros. I don't have that kind of money. The lawyer is of course completely of the hook. FML
Road rage
Today, a guy hit my car, and I threatened to sue him after he started the conversation rudely. He told me to go ahead, because he doesn’t have any money or a job anyway, then because from his perspective he had nothing else really to lose, he kicked my ass. FML
Deflated
Today, my lawyer let me know that due to the rising costs of living, her rate has increased to $565 an hour. That's more 20 times my pay. I'm not even getting a cost of living increase. FML
Give me a second!
Today, my ex-wife's lawyer threatened to default on the divorce because I have not signed the divorce papers yet. Divorce papers that I have not been served yet. FML
Nice try, bozo
Today, some guy hit my car and then threatened to sue me for "parking my car in such a way that it was impossible not to hit it." My car was in the driveway. FML
No justice
Today, my ex-boss still owes me almost 900€. I just paid another 150€ to have a lawyer tell me that, yes, the law is clearly on my side but no, I will most likely not win in court because I don't have hard proof. I just paid money to be told I won't be getting the money I'm owed. FML

Today, the pimple-faced sandwich artist at Subway threatened not to give me my food until I paid him seven dollars, which he asked for after preparing my sandwich for me. FML.

I don't get it. Is there a comprehension problem here? He did his job and is now due a fee. Did he say he'd work Pro Bono? If not... well, next time represent yourself, then you wont have to pay anything.

I don't get it either. I keep wondering if maybe the OP meant that the lawyer FAILED to get him out of a lawsuit, meaning the OP had to pay a ton of money and is now broke. Not that it would make a difference--he'd still have to pay--but I'd have more sympathy.

Number 1: the op specifically said that he can't pay his bill, so how can he pay the lawyer with no money?
Butterbuns 1
That's his problem, isn't it? You hire someone to do a job, you owe them the money for the work completed.

thanks for saving my ass; here's absolutely nothing in return...even though i promised you a ton of money. yeah...i'm failing to see the FML here too. boohoo, you have to pay your bill. what? did you think he was going to do that for you too? or did you think it came free and the number he gave you before was just the day's lottery numbers?

OK. Leave that guy for a cheaper lawyer, and when he sues you, you'll have a different lawyer to back you up.

get a new lawyer, sue the old lawyer for harassment, pay the new lawyer with your settlement. problem solved.

Wouldn't work then he'd just have two lawyers to pay. YDI OP. You have to pay for services, simple as that. You shouldn't have hired a lawyer if you couldn't afford it, that's why states give you free legal council if you can't afford it.
smiller0789 3
They only give you free council to defend yourself in a criminal trial. Not for a lawsuit

Most state bars have a program set up to provide free legal services to civil litigants who can't afford it.

You can sue someone for harassment when they aren't harassing you
XantesFire 0
Of course pay your bill, but didn't he ask for your financial status before he took your case?
DirtyDiana_fml 0
This is simple! Pay your bill, nothing is free in this world. You think he has pity? LOL
