being spontaneous is a good thing but make sure to know beforehand what your partner is willing to do.

I'm sure that some of the tears were because she felt guilty she started crying in the first place. If it really did trigger bad memories that you don't know about she was probably feeling pretty embarrassed and guilty. Next time something like that comes up just complement her abilities in the sack and say it was so good u just got carried away. Turn the focus away from her being upset. You didn't do anything wrong. Sometimes chicks that have been abused need to know it is ok to get a little emotional at times and that u can handle it. If she just doesn't like that and started crying instead of bitching at u she was feeling insecure anyway so the same approach will work.
