Fall
Dead leaves, the first cold of the season and an umbrella flipped inside out: fall, the season of grace.
Today, my boyfriend just told me that his mom told him to break up with me, and that she would pay him to do it. His mom is a bitch. FML
Today, my mother-in-law constantly threatens to commit suicide, unless my husband pays her bills. He told me I don’t care about his happiness because I told him he can’t keep giving in to her guilt trips. FML
Today, my husband told me that he's letting his mother move in with us. He told her it was alright without even consulting me first. I hate my mother-in-law so much that I'm contemplating divorce rather than living with her. FML
Today, I found out that my boyfriend's mother still calls his ex-girlfriend her "future daughter-in-law". FML
Today, I was talking to my mom about how my fiancé has been ignoring me and that I didn't know why. Turns out, my mother told him that I was too much of a handful, was mentally disturbed and also cheating on him. Just so I wouldn't move out and would keep cleaning her house for free. FML
Today, my boyfriend said angrily that he should never have gotten together with me, that he should have known a woman with divorced parents would have daddy issues, and never be quite right in the head. His own parents are divorced by the way, and his mom is extremely overbearing. FML
Today, I overheard my boyfriend talking to his mom about me. It sounded like they were planning something for me, like a marriage. They were planning how to break up with me. FML
Today, my future mother-in-law finally admitted that I'm "not the girl for her son" and that she will do anything to break us up. FML
Today, my mother found out that my fiancée broke up with her last boyfriend because she didn't want kids and he did. She's now demanding that I either change her mind, or call things off with her. FML
Today, my mother-in-law confessed that for the longest time, she had fantasies about killing me for "ruining" her daughter's life, basically because I'm not wealthy enough for my mother-in-law's standards. She made sure to let me know the situation hasn't changed at all. FML

You're judging her for a confirmed psychological disorder? Classy.

Look, if you have a bad relationship with her, that's one thing. I can take pity and say I'm sorry you have a poor relationship with your boyfriend's mother. But coming on here and going all "FML" about another woman's psychological condition isn't gonna gain much sympathy. Maybe she felt she could confide in you and tell you this personal, painful bit of her history without you. All I'm saying is that, if your relationship is that bad, complain about something else, instead of her post-partum depression. One more thing: It's also not appropriate for a 17-year-old to talk about marriage. I seriously doubt you're mature enough or ready for it. (And no, that's not judging you personally. That's my opinion on all 17-year-olds.)

To #20: Actually, fantasies about killing your baby are one of the symptoms of severe PPD. A frightening number of women actually go through with it, too. So, uh, you're absolutely wrong. To the OP: Whether or not you have "other issues" with the woman, the fact is that you specifically wrote about her psychological illness--something she can't control. She opened up to you in a moment of weakness, and you plastered it on the internet as though her disease somehow messes up your life. You're aren't going to get much sympathy from readers for doing something so incredibly insensitive and self-absorbed. Your attempts at defending yourself just make you look more pathetic. If you wanted to write something like "Today, my boyfriend and I talked about getting married. The problem? His mother and I hate each other. FML," then it'd be a different story. You're entitled to write whatever you want. Just remember that if you want sympathy, this is not the way to go about complaining about your future mother-in-law.

Actually that was my threat when I was really depressed after having my kid. It's stressful having a kid. I also threaten to throw my husband out the window when he pisses me off. She was probably being serious but she didn't throw him out the window because no matter how stressed out you are you still love your child. I hope you can forgive her :)

Even if she does has a psychological disorder, that had to be unsettling to hear. I mean really, that would freak me out if someone who could be my mother-in-law told me she wanted to throw her son out the window. Later, once I thought about it, I would probably be more understanding. But you can't just drop something like that on someone you hardly know and expect them to immediately be okay with it. It would be a little bit of a shocker, you know?

So we're suposed to take pity on YOU cause your she had a psychological disorder and your boyfriend wants to get married? First of all she deserves the pity for having to suffer through that. Secondly, congratulations on getting engaged. I don't see how you have anything wrong in your life. Stop judging her and not wanting to associate yourself with her over a disorder that was NOT her fault.
