Today, I met up with my dad for the first time in 7 years. We planned to go to a nice restaurant but he changed the place we were going to, to Chuck E. Cheese. I'm 18 years old. I waited an hour for him to show up. I then ended up babysitting his daughter the whole time. FML
Today, I went on a date for the first time in ages, only to realize that the guy I was seeing chose to take us to a specific restaurant in able to stalk his ex. FML
Today, I was supposed to be going on my first date with a guy I really liked. He never showed up. I just found out my dad was outside washing the car when my date showed up. He told him he didn't have a daughter and to never show up on his driveway again. FML

Today, I was on a date with a guy I've been crushing on. In the middle of the dinner, he said he had to go get something from his car. When I asked what it was, he smiled and said it was a surprise. I waited for my surprise for half an hour. Then I decided to pay the bill and go home and cry. FML
Today, after being single for a while now, I unwillingly went on a blind date with a guy my friend convinced me would be perfect for me. He took me to McDonald's. His father was with him the whole entire time. He's 27. FML
Today, after having an amazing first date with my long time crush, we ended up going out to dinner. We shared a meal, and it was delicious! This would have been the ultimate dream come true... Except for the part about me throwing up in his car on the way back home. FML
Today, my crush invited me to her house and I ended up meeting her dad. Then she suddenly had to dash off because her boyfriend, whom I had no idea existed, unexpectedly had free time so they were going on a last minute date, which left me awkwardly sat there in the kitchen with her dad. FML

I really can't think of anything more romantic than soggy pizza and a man in a sweaty mouse costume. the hyper kids and vomit hidden in the strangest places in the play place is just a plus.

I'm sorry, but... HOW'S that bad? I mean, look he's a single dad, so you know he's responsible. He cares about his kid enough not to leave him home alone, and really: CHUCK E. ******* CHEESE'S?! Okay, everyone here is WEIRD. Or missing the point. Or both. The OP isn't upset about the fact that the guy has a kid - it's the fact that she was expecting a first date (getting to know each other, having a bit of fun, maybe some nice food and a good-night smooch). Instead the guy - OUT OF NOWHERE - shows up with a kid and takes her somewhere distinctly not suited to a first date. How exactly are they going to "date" with constant kid interference? Ever tried leaning in for that romantic end-of-the-night kiss, where everything is exciting and new, just to have the kid yell "DAAAD I'VE PEED MY PANTS" from the car?

you can easily send the kid to the ball pit and get to know each other. Fun for the kid and good for them both. Expecting someone to blow money on a "romantic" first date with the possibility to find that you're not right for each other is just stupid and selfish. If it turns out that even one doesn't like the other, than it turns into a waste of money instead of a nice date.

i would be happy that he brought his son. that means he wanted you to know about it right away, so it wasn't like he had a "secret son". if i were you, I'd wanna know about it right away, and be happy that hes being open and honest with you. but thats just how i see the situation.
