Since color blindness is an inherited trait, she could likely have had it all her life, which makes your advice invalid. Also, many "color blind" people actually do see colors, but they're different from the labels we have given them or the colors bleed together.

You could be colorblind and not kwoing it. the little tests with the numbers written with dots on a circle is one good tet to check if you are color blind.

Agreed, I didn't find out I was color blind until I did a color blind test in college. I graduated high school in a gifted arts program, and have had pieces in museums. Get this, they were noted for composition and use of value and color. FML

Umm... presumably the fear here was that she'd ALWAYS been colour blind and not known, not that it had suddenly happened to her after having years of perfect colour vision. Therefore looking to see if things look different wouldn't really help since things have always looked that way for her, so whatever she's seeing, colour blind or not, would seem perfectly normal to her.

actually, you dont need to pass that test, the only test you need to pass for a license is Red green color blindness, there are still many other types of Color blindness

you don't need to pass the red-green colorblindness test in order to get your license , if that were so then about 10% of men couldn't get it. Most people can see both red and green but wen the are put right next to each other its hard to distinguish between the two, which is why for the colorblindness tests they have a bunch of red dots with a bunch of green dots that either have a letter or a number in it, if you're colorblind then it would be hard to distinguish the number/letter

Well. Your idiot teacher and your textbooks were wrong. Colorblindness is sex-linked on the X chromosome, so men are affected more because they are XY (only one X to make it all go wrong). Women can have 1 bad X and one good one and not be colorblind.

Hayleyyanne, there are different types of colour blindness. While males are a lot more likely to be colour blind, it's not unheard of for a woman to be colour blind as well. I recommend your Biology teacher return to school and stop embarrassing the rest of the scientific community. You may also wish to seek out more recent text books.

Maybe you are thinking of Rod Monochromancy... where a person can only see in shades of grey. That i s very rare among people that are colorblind, so it is probably never heard of in females.. or at least hardly ever.

It usually is, it is a recessive trait on the X gene, which males only have one and females have two, and it has to be on both X genes for females to get it, so it is rarer for females.

To someone that is color blind, they may not know what green really is, since they have seen that way there whole life.
