Today, my mum yelled at me for wanting to apply to university courses that she doesn't approve of. I'm applying for Biomedical Sciences and Microbiology, she's an unemployed Jehovah's Witness. FML

This is stupid. It has nothing to do with the fact that she will be studying science. jw don't discount anything that's proven as a scientific fact. In fact, if god created everything isn't he the best scientist there is? Dumbb

Well that's why she's angry: because she's a Jehovah's witness & you're going to college to major in Science.... Good for you though! I'd tell her God brought you down the path you're on and you plan to keep going down it. She'll get over it. Don't let her bring you and your dreams down

As one of Jehovah's Witnesses I thought I should share our beliefs. We don't think that studying science is wrong. If that were the case there wouldn't be JW's that are nurses, doctors, or even science teachers. It's faulty logic saying that each and every JW would be against there child going to collage to study a science course. Yeah biology could possibly led to the subject of evolution which we don't believe, because we believe Jehovah God created everything. But OP doesn't say why the mom disagrees. It could be it's to expensive if she's helping pay for we Childs collage education. There's more than our religious beliefs of why the mom doesn't want the child going to that collage!

why should you have to have a date to give your child something? why be forced to do something? i rather have someone give me something out of the goodness of there heart. not because a date on the calendar says they should. I have never been deprived of getting gifts. I just get them more than twice a year. why should i have to get them when everyone else says they should?

Um poem my parents got me things too besides just for the holidays out of the "kindness of there hearts " as you put it ,not only jw do that for there children , overly religious people are close minded and I'm not atheist , your parents deprived you of childhood memories

Im not talkin about presents... I spoil my neices and nephews quite regularly... Im talkin like actually spending quality time with ur family and not casting them out cause of their beliefs.. If someone shys away from the religion we dont cast them off in a corner and make them outcasts... Ive seen it done over and over again with jw... Makes me glad i am not one or will ever be one... I believe in god and im proud of it... And i will never cast my family out for what they believe...
