Dude, my boyfriend did the same thing! He's been off FB for 2 1/2 years now because he didn't want his ex-fiance to know that he and I were even friends, let alone together. Sheesh. What is with these guys?!

I think it is really uncaring of the boyfriend to be so ashamed of her. The OP isn't saying Facebook is needed to validate their relationship, she's just pissed that her boyfriend is so embarrassed to admit she's his girlfriend.
