Today, I quit my job because my company wouldn't give me the raise I've been asking for for 2 years. I just saw the ad on Craigslist for my replacement position. The starting salary is above what I was asking for. FML

Hey all - Thanks for the comments... I did have another job before quitting and I did give my 2 week notice. I'm not stupid in this kind of economy. When giving my 2 week notice, my boss offered to match my current salary and I denied it. I then saw the craigslist posting for more money after I already denied what my boss tried to match for me since I felt it was too late and my new job paid way more. Therefore the uneducated, stupid, and not doing well at my job part doesn't apply. However the undervalued, stupid boss does. :)

There are several questions here that determines whether or not this is an FYL or YDI. -How good of an employee were you? Is it entirely possible that you weren't doing the best you could and thus didn't really deserve a raise? -How are you doing in this economy? Everyone is hurting right now, but did you really need the money? -Did they hint at you getting the raise, or did they flat out told you no each time? -Were your superiors generally asses anyway? (There are more questions, but I can't think of anymore atm. Too bad we can't get a great answer because most of the questions were subjective...) Basically, what I'm asking is were you just being bitchy or was that a legitimate reason to quit? I'm not doubting that you are a good person, but it seems like you're not telling us the whole story. =

Pretty dumb to quit in this economy. But that is a pretty messed up thing your ex-boss/company did. Shows you how so many companies don't give a shit about their employees so why be loyal to them.

wat economy? no changes in life for me, maybe if you werent in debt for buying so much bullshit you wouldnt be following the band wagon

You are my hero right now.

It's probably that your company slogged along with you because you were cheap, even thought you were a low-grade moron. Now that you quit, they want to fill the position with someone who has the intelligence of a trained chimp, so they have to cough more than they do for imbeciles like you.

**** them, slash their tires!!!

damn, ur boss is dumbass, newbie can't be better than you.

God, you're dumb. My dad, with a BA from Brown University and a Ph. D from Boston College, has been out of work for over a year. No offense, but if you quit your job in a recession, I doubt you're that educated because you're a ******* idiot, so good luck finding a job before my VERY qualified father.

#40 There's a term for something like this...it's called being 'overqualified'. Have you heard of it?
