Hopefully they reasonably agreed over shared custody of you and your sister? Might be a bit more "unusual" to do so over a dog.

that's cause you've already been arranged for, your most important. they're not gonna fight over you like a piece of meat. the dog in the other hand is seen as property (unfortunantly) which is y they are fighting over it.

In a divorce Mommy gets the kids. Period. US law. Puppies, however, are something Dad may get to walk away with.

No, that's not how that works. Usually, the mother does get the kids, but my little siblings all live with my dad. We've bounced around a bit, but the courts really don't care which parent gets the kids unless they're being abused by one parent or whatever.
