Today, I decided to be a good driver and not run through the yellow light. As soon as I stopped my car another came and rear-ended me. The guy told me to go in the parking lot so we can exchange information. So I drove into the parking lot, I turned my head and watched him drive away. FML

It doesn't make you a good driver for stopping at a yellow light when you could've gone through. It makes you a douchebag for stopping short and causing the guy behind you to bump you.. of course he's a douchebag too for running away. I guess everyone's a douchebag in this story

Ohh god, the guy should've realized you were stopping because your break lights would've shown. He was probably riding up on your tailgate so far that when you went to stop he crashsed into you. Then he decided to be a jackass and take off leaving you there.

i hope you called the police and filed a report of the other driver leaving the scene of an accident. and yeah, with as much info on them as you can get of course. and it does NOT make you a douche for slowing down at the yellow light. Anyone who really deserves to have a license will tell you that the yellow light is a warning so you can slow down before it turns red, so that you don't run a red light.

That really sucks. I hope the cops found the jerk. As for slowing down on yellow, I'm sorry folks but, yellow does not mean "Hurry up! It's about to turn red!!!!" Personally, I'm scared as hell to run yellows anymore because, if it turns red too soon and that damned red light camera catches me, I'm the one getting screwed. Drive safely.

red means stop, not yellow, you're a worse driver for suddenly stopping at yellow then speeding up a little bit to catch the light.

#46, you're wrong. As long as it isn't a sudden stop, you're supposed to. See previous comments that say you're the kind of idiot that causes accidents because you don't actually follow real driving rules.

This happened to my mom. While getting his info was a good idea, you should never pull off of the main route without at least knowing his plates or something. Think people, think.

most of you people are really stupid. "AMBER" means "proceed with caution" not "Stop". you only slow down at a yellow light if you can safely slow down without the car behind you crashing into you. if you can stop and the 18-wheeler behind you cannot, you don't stop. the guy behind you might've been going too fast for him to safely stop without murdering his brakes. RED means stop. if it's not RED you don't stop. christ, read a driver's manual. it is too bad the guy did that stupid "parking lot" thing. it was probably to get you to drive away since he couldn't back up and pull off. that sucks. BUT you should never move a car after an accident. just turn on your hazards and call the cops so the scene isn't tampered with. what's REALLY dumb is the accident was your fault. so now he has damage to his car that he has to pay for out of pocket, when your insurance would've had to cover it. so i guess it's sort of a win?

no, it's the person who rear ended op's fault for failure to maintain a proper distance. it's never the fault of the person in front unless they pulled onto a freeway or something right in front of a car

Wrong. In a rear-ending accident the car that got rear-ended is pretty much NEVER at fault regardless of stopping short or anything else like that.

wow that sucks. been there, done that. i'm sorry that happened to you. what an ass.

These people that are saying you always go through the yellow light are absolute morons. sure if you are going to fast to stop go through, but if you are 50 ft from the intersection and it turns yellow, you do not speed up to make it. as someone said, its a warning that a red light is coming up. when i drive i just drive normal speed towards an intersection, and based on my speed i get to a "point of no return" and just keep going, this is where i know based on my speed i wont be able to stop anyways. also, it pays to watch the pedestrian signals, when don't walk goes solid, its often wise to get ready to stop if you aren't at the point of no return yet.

I do the exact same thing, personally. Iunno, I might be crazy, but I've always thought that alot of accidents and such could be avoided if people openly and really thought before they did something.
