Today, I couldn't prove my son has had chickenpox, so his school gave us the option of getting a potentially dangerous shot he didn't need, pay for an expensive blood test to show that he previously had the virus, or sign a waiver stating I'm a religious nut refusing medical treatment. FML

the belief that vaccines cause autism was based on one study that has been disregarded as unethical and biased. the original researchers don't stand behind it. diseases that were once hardly ever seen are now increasing bc parents are vaccinating less.

Well considering it's meant to protect your kid from getting chicken pox just get the blood test. Its also a law & a very good one, they don't want you relying on herd immunity. Your only other option is send him to a private school.

Get the first one... It's not dangerous at all i had it when i was little and if your son has had chicken pox already the odds of a side effect occurring are even smaller... This feels more like yahoo answers than FML

I'm on the edge of my seat.....which did you choose

op obvioisly picked the crazy religous thing just read the name

So I think YDI just because you're being an idiot and blowing it way out of proportion. Normal people, I'm pretty sure, would see the options as: 1. Get a vaccine (which is not dangerous since most children have them and are just fine). 2. Get a blood test (which can be expensive but you have other options). or 3. Sign a paper saying you don't wish to do either (I was unaware signing a paper was such a horrible task). I say grow up. It's not a big deal. The school is trying to protect the children.

A vaccine is a weakened or sterilized form of a disease, if you get the shot after the immunity is built up then you're even less likely of developing the disease from the shot

So I'm guessing you signed the waiver?
