The inconsistent gardener

Today, I looked in my mouse's cage and noticed a tiny weed growing. I've been trying to grow a garden for years to no avail. Even my mouse is a better gardener than I am. FML

Don't feel like a dope or be hash on yourself. You'll grow some grass eventually, maybe pot today, maybe pot tomorrow, but someday. Not everybody has a green thumb. Maybe you could ask your friend Mary Jane to hemp you out with your gardening, just take her out to lunch at a local burger joint in exchange for her assistance. It cannabis too hard. All these crappy puns are making Mary-wanna get high now... (Man, I wish I was as clever with these as DocBastard.)

This is probably because of the type of bedding you use for your mouse cage. I had a hamster once, and its cage was always in the sunlight nearby a giant glass door. The water from his water bottle which clips onto the cage leaked onto the bedding, and somehow, due to the sunlight, began to grow plants. And yeaah...

To everyone saying the OP neglected the pet by not cleaning the cage: that weed could have sprouted in a matter of just a few days. It it perfectly fine to let the cage go that long, or longer without cleaning. Rodent cages take quite a bit longer than that to need changing - more like a week and a half, or two weeks, or longer depending on the type of rodent pet. So calm down ppl.

What kind of rodents are you keeping? I have rats and their cage needs to be cleaned every 3-4 days, not a couple of weeks.

Gerbils. Desert animals drink less water = make less waste. Also depends on the size of the cage. For a mouse, I thinks its not as often as rats but less often then gerbils.

o_O How can you not grow a garden... all you need is dirt, seeds, and water. Nature has made it so totally simple to start a garden and still you fail. You know you plant the seeds (IN THE DIRT) and then water them bi/tri-weekly right?
