Today, my mom grounded me for “giving her a dirty look.” I cannot sense or control my own facial expressions, and they almost never match my mood. I was in a good mood when said “dirty look” appeared on my face. FML

Today, for the millionth time, my mother grounded me for “giving her a dirty look.” I can't see my own face, and I was actually in a good mood at the time. Whenever I accidentally give someone a dirty look, it always comes as a complete surprise, and my mother refuses to believe this. FML

Today, my mother screamed at me for the millionth time for “giving her a dirty look” as if I could see my own face. I’m just tired. I just wish people would pay attention to my words and not my face. FML

Today, my normally very modest and prissy mom came home, pissed off about something. I asked her what was wrong, but she wouldn't say, and snapped at me to "fuck off". She then grounded me for "making" her use that kind of "vile language". FML

Today, I was a little grumpy. I tried my best to not take it out on other people, but then I encountered that ONE person who doesn't realize that sometimes people are just in a bad mood, and they proceed to give you a hard time over nothing. That person was my mom. And then later my dad. Now I'm grounded. FML

Today, my mom took my cell to work with her. When she got home later, she scolded me for not answering her calls. When I pointed out that she'd taken it, she grounded me for "talking back". FML

Today, I realized why people throughout the years have “lied” about me giving them “dirty looks”. They’re talking about the face I make when I’m in deep thought, concentrating on trying to sort out my thoughts while I’m spaced out. It’s one of many unfortunate parts of my schizoaffective disorder. FML

My wife has this same issue tbh. Also included is tone; she doesn’t recognize the tones she uses when she’s talking. I completely understand where you’re coming from.

I have the tonal issue as well. People constantly think I’m being sarcastic when I’m actually being sincere…boy did high school ever suck because of it, constantly being told to smarten up by teachers or being sent to the principal’s office.. I feel your pain OP, it gets easier the older you get though.
