Awkward small talk

Today, I went to my boyfriend's house, intending to break up with him. Instead, I was greeted by his whole family throwing me a surprise party. I had to sit and listen to his whole family talk about what a great couple we are and how we're going to last forever. FML

Shortly before I broke it off with my ex, his parents came to town for a surprise visit. At dinner, his mother raised a glass of wine to toast me, saying how pleased his deceased grandmother would have been to know her grandson was in such good hands. It's lucky I hadn't started drinking at the same time they had and could therefore refrain from saying, "I wonder if she'd still think that, knowing how much I want to put a pillow over his face while he's sleeping?" I feel ya, OP. It really sucks that you finally worked up the nerve to pull the plug, only to have this happen. But stay strong and try again...trust me, it'll only get worse if you don't.

Like that's kinda awkward did they know you were coming over, or did they ask you to come over? It's kind of weird to just show up out of the blue for no reason and bam have a surprise party

Although in their eyes you would seem like a complete bitch, you could have just told him straight up and left without talking ti anyone else. Then he would have been out of your life and you would have no contact with his family and so they couldn't send you hate shit
