We need to talk…

Today, I took a look at my 9-year-old daughter's diary, thinking it would be full of cute stuff. Instead, it was full of hateful rants against me and my husband, as well the boys at her school, who she called gay because none of them ever hit on her. It seems I've failed as a parent. FML

Yes OP you have failed as a parent for reading your 9 year old child's diary.

the first thing that came to mind was the movie "orphan" ....

Wow, sorry but someone reading someone else's diary-- no matter the relation-- is just wrong. That's their privacy. YDI... Unless you're Nathan Drake or something. Then it's fine :)

And she's 9?

Atleast she has a diary to let this stuff out into

You shouldn't be reading her diary anyways. That's her right to privacy and you just violated her right. That's shitty parenting.

Why would you read your daughters diary anyways? That's an extreme violation of privacy and if I were your daughter I would never trust you again. YDI.

I would hate it if my parents read something personal of mine

This is why school shootings happen to often.
